notes
Outback! is the true-to-life story of how one English boy braved the dangers and hardships of the limitless Australian bush to emerge after three years as a man. After many adventures, tumbled together in this self-guided tour of youth, the man leaves Australia, taking with him memories of homeless Aborigines, swagmen in the bush, the joys of friendship, the pain of loss and the futility of war. He also takes with him a deep, quiet love of the land that now owns him...Australia.
Dal Burns is a fourth-generation entertainer who has worked and trained with Newcastle Repertory Theatre and Langley Castle Productions (U.K.), Karl Avis Stunt Team and Channel 7 (Australia), the American Conservatory Theatre and Commedia De'll Arte in the United States. Burns is currently working on a second series of children's audiostories and an audiostory of his adventures in Chile and Patagonia.

These words made it real
author: Gemma DubaldoI have never been to Australia. I have never met an Aborigine. I have never been completely alone for days on end. I have never just walked to wherever my feet took me. I have never been kicked by a Kangaroo or been a miner or tended sheep or watched a best friend die. I have never heard a Kookaburra and I have never as far as I know been a young boy :-) And I have never entered the Dreamtime in the way the author did. But his words made it happen as if it were happening to me and I became more than I was before I heard his story. He had the adventure my soul wanted but could not have - and through him I did have it after all.
No need to move just kick back close your eyes and....your there!
author: Prince MillerGo on a walkabout with a 17 year old, join the circus, hunt for opals. Join in a corroboree with the Aborigines. Sing along with some street musicians, throw an imaginary coin into an imaginary hat! Shed a tear of pain and laugh the laugh of pure joy with the boy who became a man.
What a fabulous journey!
author: Diane ClarkOutback takes you on a journey that you will not forget. Dal Burns is a masterful story-teller who will have you feeling like you are on walkabout through the Australian outback with him! I have been on many adventures myself and this story transported me completely to his world down-under. If you love adventure and great stories then don't miss this CD!
WOW! Prepare to be transported!
author: Laurie JacobsonWOW!! My husband, Jon Provost, directed a stage version of Outback years ago. He insisted I read it and I am so lucky he did. It is brilliant. It's a grand adventure, inspiring, exhausting, spiritual, full of humor and wisdom. If you've ever dreamed of visiting Australia, or you've been lucky enough to go, or you just long to be transported to another land without ever leaving your chair -- Outback is for you.
