notes
"Adam Czerepinksi has a good album here. He does not overtake anyone on any of it. Just because he is the leader does not mean he is front and center on any of the songs. His trumpet playing is extraordinary... Dimensions should be a hit."
-JazzReview.com
"Adam Czerepinski is a fresh voice among modern jazz trumpet players...his trumpet playing sparkles."
-International Trumpet Guild Journal
Composer and trumpet player Adam Czerepinski was born and raised in Madison WI, where by the age of 16, he had become one of the most in-demand jazz musicians in the city. In 1999 he accepted a full scholarship to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he was able to study improvisation with Greg Hopkins, Joe Lovano, and Bill Pierce.
Since the fall of 2002 Adam has been living in New York and New Jersey, working as a freelance trumpet player and composer, and attending the Manhattan School of Music, where he is currently a doctoral candidate. Adam is a regular performer at jazz clubs such as Dizzy's Club, the Jazz Gallery, and the Jazz Standard.
The Adam Czerepinski Sextet has over the past several years become the main vehicle for Adam’s harmonically and contrapuntally sophisticated compositions. Featuring Jon Irabagon on alto, Jake Saslow on tenor, Soren Moller on piano, Dave Hertzberg on bass, and Paul Wiltgen on drums, the band is able to seamlessly blend daring mixed meters and atonality with soulful swing and overt lyricism. Their debut CD “Dimensions” features Czerepinski’s first major published work; a 40 minute through-composed suite displaying the band’s sensitivity and virtuosity.
