Veteran singer/songwriter/keyboardist and Memphis music icon Charlie Wood has reunited and revamped his eight-piece Memphis Underground to create a great new band and a great new CD: "Charlie Wood and the New Memphis Underground." Featuring ten new original songs by Wood - as well as updated versions of some classic blues and R&B tunes - the CD showcases the talents of many of the "young lions" of Memphis music. The New Memphis Underground is a virtual who's who of the local music scene whose members have played and recorded with Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Albert King, Al Green, Eddie Floyd, and many other blues/soul/R&B legends.
