notes
This is the long awaited, first release album from Curt Granger.
Take equal parts melody from Tom Petty, The Beatles, 3rd Eye Blind, and mix in the guitar stylings of greats like Eddie Van Halen, Eric Clapton (the inspiration for the album title), and Steve Vai, and you might come close to describing Curt's music. A musician from the American south, Curt Granger cut his teeth on the classic bands of the 70's and 80's such as Boston, KISS, Aerosmith, Thin Lizzy, Van Halen, Journey, and King's X.
Curt Granger has been a major player in the local Birmingham Alabama music scene for over 20 years. He began his professional music career in 1986, as a founding member and guitarist of the popular circuit band Pyrate. With this rowdy gang of rockers he logged thousands and thousands of miles on the road, performing over 600 shows all across the southeast. After taking a short hiatus as an active musician, Curt formed the alternative rock band Scream Sophie. It was with Scream Sophie that he released two very well received CDs - "Offerings" in 2000, and "Secrets In A Jar" in 2003, and took the band on the road to perform hundreds of shows. In 2004 he worked a brief stint with the rock band Empty Fall, playing bass, writing, and producing. October 2004 found Curt forming the band Traumatide, with many subsequent shows and releasing the full-length CD "This Thing Called Life. In 2007, Curt joined forces with some of his fellow golfing pals to form his current band Citizen Jayne, playing lead guitar, contributing backing vocals, and singing lead on a few choices numbers, as well as handling the day-to-day business activities.
Regarding the new album, Curt says, "This is something I've always longed to do, ever since I recorded my first overdub on an old Fostex 4-track. Not only the 'total creative control' aspect appealed to me, but the opportunity to wear multiple 'hats' and think outside the norm of how a guitar player usually thinks. I'm very fortunate that I could work on this album at home during breaks and downtown from my other projects. I'm stoked, to say the least."

Pyrate Roadie
author: Bob GodwinI love Booger's diversity on this Cd. The hard rock of Pyrate is still evident in his style of play, but the ability to grab your attention is an attribute to his development and adjustment to the changes in the industry since the rowdy days that we used to party at Thunderbirds and other circuit clubs. You will love his latest offering and will play it over and over and still be mesmerized.
Impressive!
author: Jayne StewartI am extremely impressed with Curt's diversity on this CD! Each of the songs has it's own style and story to tell, rather than having the same sound as most songs on a CD have. I knew that Curt was an excellent guitarist before listening to his CD, but I had no idea he was just as skilled and talented as a singer/songwriter and musician of multiple instruments! Curt's abilities are phenomenal! All of the songs are great, but Shadows of Grace mesmerizes me...I absolutely love it! And I absolutely love the entire CD! You will play this CD over and over again, and will not be disappointed. I highly recommend it!
Outstanding!
author: Christopher GarrettAs a songwriter and guitarist for Scream Sophie and then Traumatide, Curt's playing and his musicality have always intrigued me. Now to hear him sing and play multiple instruments is truly a wonderful thing to experience. Each song on the CD sounds as if it were crafted with a lot of thought and attention to detail, and I can only imagine the effort and time required to produce such quality work. The sonic attributes are superb - nicely mixed and mastered. This CD deserves a spot in everyone's collection, and you owe it to yourself to go see Curt perform live too.
420 Homegrown Avenue
author: SherryA MUST HAVE! Koolest most awesome CD I own! Curt is truely able to reach out with his lyrics and music right down into your heart & soul and at the same time rock the socks off of ya. There is something for everyone on this one! Alloyzism, Real Thing, Help Me To Believe, It Hurts Me Too, Highway Song, Shadows Of Grace are a few of my favorites on this one. This CD's got it all! IT ROCKS! GOD Bless you Curt Granger
Amazing talent!
author: Janie WimberlyI've been listening to Curt's music since his first Scream Sophie CD several years ago, and this CD tops them all! There are several genres of music spanning the disk, and Curt does them all really well. I especially liked the remake of the Elmore James song "It Hurts Me Too," and he really took Paul McCartney's "Goodnight Tonight" up a few notches! His original songs are really the shining gems here however. Great vocals, and of course his stunning guitar work. I know I'll be listening to it over and over for many weeks to come!
Homegrown Rock !!!
author: AndreasKool CD!!!! This CD showcases Curt's wide range of talents, from lyrics to CD cover and everything in between. He runs through a wide range of emotions on this disc and I would have to say that it definitely deserves a spot in anybody's CD changer or carousel.
GREAT CD!!
author: GingerThis is an AWESOME CD! I have been playing it over and over since I received it! Curt is a extremely talented guitarist and really shows what he can do within this CD! Don't wait..order this CD now..you won't be disappointed!!
It's about damn time!
author: Shannon DunnCall me biased because I pushed and pushed for Curt to complete this project but I swear the tracks are amazing even if you do just love ya some Curt G! His ability to change up his vocal style never ceases to amaze me and I've always said he plays a M-E-A-N guitar. I think my favorites are Help me to Believe (the lyrics move me incredibly) and Walk Away From Here. But then again, I also love Real Thing and It Hurts Me Too. Damn it, I just love the whole album and you will too. This is just a phenomenal mix of voice and sound and you will not be dissapointed. We all asked for it and Curt has finally brought it.
