notes

Career began in 1989 as one half of Chris and Johnny (later known as Storyhill), a modern folk duo that independently released nine CDs, which have sold over 35,000 pieces to date. The duo toured coast to coast for four years, building a substantial fan base and thousands of grass-roots fans.

In 1998 Chris started a band called Sixth Sense which released two CDs and did three extensive tours.

In 1999 he teamed up with singer-songwriter Justin Roth for three tours, followed by the release of a live CD called "2 Forms of ID."

In August 2000, Chris released his first solo recording titled "House Concert." He recorded and produced it himself, capturing the informal and intimate vibe of his performances at people's houses while on tour (house concerts).

  • Astonishingly good!
    author: Bob Barter

This solo disc by Chris Cunningham is every bit as astonishing as the releases he's done with fellow Storyhill member John Hermanson. Buying it after having gotten a few Storyhill discs, I was equally impressed with Mr. Cunningham's solo work here. The singing and guitar playing on House Concert are first rate throughout, and the production (recorded at home!) is so professional. What draws me back again and again to this CD- as well as to the Storyhill albums- is the writing, both lyrics and melody. Sure, the musicianship is top-notch, as I've said, but the consistenly fine writing is every bit as good. Anyone who appreciates Storyhill, and also Don Campbell (whose new DonCampbell Trio CD Baby carries), should order Chris Cunningham's House Concert today.
