Award-winning composer Christopher Tucker was born in Bryan, Texas on October 7, 1976. He received his Master of Music from the University of Texas at Austin studying composition with Dan Welcher and Donald Grantham. He also completed a Performance Certificate in Conducting at UT where he studied with Kevin Sedatole. A graduate of the University of North Texas, he holds a Bachelor of Music degree cum laude where he studied with the late Martin Mailman. Mr. Tucker is currently composer-in-residence of the Helios Ensemble as well as radio announcer and Music Director for WRR Classical 101.1 FM in Dallas, Texas.

Christopher Tucker's musical portfolio covers a palette of mediums from solos and chamber ensembles to wind symphony and orchestra. Christopher Tucker won the 2001 Biennial College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Young Band Composition Competition for his Americans Lost. And, his work Twilight in the Wilderness won the 2003 CBDNA Young Band Composition Competition and the 2004 Claude T. Smith Memorial Band Composition Contest. Mr. Tucker has participated in masterclasses with Judith Weir, Lowell Liebermann, John Corigliano, Warren Benson, David Maslanka, Samuel Adler, Elliot Del Borgo, and Walter Hartley. Selected as one of five composers, he participated in the National Band Association First Biennial Young Composers Mentor Project with mentors Mark Camphouse, Timothy Mahr, and Jack Stamp. Mr. Tucker has served as music editor in the "Forgotten Songs of Sousa" project and as music copyist working with such notable composers as Daron Hagen, William Latham, and Joan Tower. Christopher Tucker holds membership in ASCAP and the American Composers Forum.
