The debut CD of guitarist Rich Arnold and keyboardist Mike Young entitled "Cruise Control" features spectacular smooth jazz saxophonist Michael Paulo and bluesman Finis Tasby. There's something for everyone on this release - Smooth Jazz, R&B, Blues, Funk, Hip-Hop - even Straight-ahead Jazz and Bossa Nova.
These music partners have gigged around Los Angeles for years, playing and jamming with some of the area's finest players. This CD is an outgrowth of more than fifteen years of collaboration. "We wanted this to represent our experiences in a wide variety of pop and jazz music," responded Young.
Mike Young's classical background is a springboard for excursions into the heart of Smooth Jazz. His songwriting and playing follow in the tradition of Jeff Lorber and George Duke, yet Young's style is truly his own.
Rich Arnold's love of jazz guitar is on display in this CD. Archtop, nylonstring and screaming strat guitars fill the music with warmth and sincerity. "I love the many different styles on this CD. We tried to be true to each vibe," says Arnold.
