notes
Unbutton Your Heart is the first album from Valerie & Walter Crockett, the legendary and but rarely seen New England eclectic acoustic act. Produced by their bass player, Bob Dick (Front Range), the album runs the gamut from folk to blues to bluegrass and back.
"It's a great sound. You've got some great harmonies. It's a wonderful combination - a real sweet, honest sound." Dick Pleasants, folk deejay WUMB-FM and WGBH-FM, Boston
"...Valerie and Walter Crockett perform a delicious brand of folk, progressive bluegrass and blues. ... With Valerie's lovely soprano and Walter's sweetly embellished acoustic guitar leads, baritone voice and lush harmonies, this album is a delight." Stephen Ide, New England Folk Almanac
"Any disc by relatively unknown artists that opens with two terrific originals has already justified its existence. In this case, however, there are four more songs of such caliber, vaulting this CD into genuine contender status. ... In simple summary, this duo deserves major label attention next time out." David Royko, Bluegrass Unlimited.
"Unbutton Your Heart features Valerie Crockett's exquisite vocals backed by Walter's wizard-like picking. The songwriting is top-notch and the disc boasts some stunning numbers, such as "Starlight" and "As I Fall In Love With You." Donnie Moorhouse, Springfield (MA) Union News
