notes
It all began in a small wooden cabin...no, wait, that was Lincoln. The group first performed in 1982 under the name "South Coast Consort," performing at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire and for parties at Christmas.
In 1985, the group changed its name to "Country Matters to better reflect the bawdy nature of the period from which they draw their inspiration and, of course, their music. From 1985 to 1988, Country Matters thrilled and titillated audiences at the Pleasure Faire in Agoura, CA.
Then all hell broke loose. The Faire moved and so did they. When the Pleasure Faire continued in Devore, CA in 1989, Country Matters regrouped with four of its origianl members, adding another soprano and alto immediately with other new members to follow.
In the winter of 1989, with a total of 8 members, they embarked, once again, on the Christmas caroling journey.
Over the next four years, adding new members as they went and losing a few here and there, Country Matters continued dazzling all those within earshot (well, at least within eyeshot) at the Renaissance Faire and throughout Southern California. Drawing on the versatlilty and talent of its members, Country Matters integrates instruments, dance and theatrical splendor - or should that be farcical flair? - into its performances.
In the spring of 1993, the group began recording its first release. Praeludium ad Simulationem was released in the winter of 1993 on tape and then re-mastered for CD in the summer of 1994. In 1995, this versatile group of musicians then released Let Us Servire Cantico, A collection of Christmas carols on CD.

Fabulous Holiday Soundtrack
author: E LevineWhat can I say, the harmonies are wonderful, the varitey of songs amazing and I will now compare any and all versions of Jingle Bells to the one on this disc, because I feel it's the best version of the song, ever!
