notes

Country Dave Harmonson has been singing and playing Country music since the early 1970's. Born in Texas to a Southern Baptist preacher and school teacher Mother, moved to the Northwest, and went to school in Oregon and eventually to the Seattle area, where he still resides. As a teenager Dave took an interest in the guitar, learning folk songs and popular tunes from the 60's. In his late teens He started to hear and meet other musicians and get into Bluegrass and Country Picking. Shortly there after Dave became one of the premiere Country lead players in the Seattle area, playing lead guitar for Northwest Travelling band "Lance Romance", and later for "Stampede Pass", a band Dave would play guitar and steel with from 1981-1997. He always kept his interest in acoustic and electric styles of playing, broadening his skills in finger picking and flat picking on acoustic and hot chicken picking, swing, and blues on the electric. All this while playing pedal steel and dobro. He has played as a session player for countless artists, and been hired as a side man for many top performers, guitar, steel, and dobro. Dave likes to listen to all kinds of music, but his favorite is straight-up Country. This new CD is just that, a collection of some of Dave's favorites, about half and half acoustic or electric, with some hot picking from other players, Joel Tepp: harmonica and clarinet, Paul Elliott: fiddle, Gary Ballard: mandolin and banjo, James Clark: electric and acoustic bass, Marty Vadalabene: drums and percussion, Gaye Winsor: harmony vocals, and Dave's two sons Jesse Harmonson: drums, and Aaron Harmonson: fretless electric bass on "Buckets of Rain". If you you like good straight ahead Country and Bluegrass you'll enjoy this CD. Pick one up, put in your player and put on a grin.

Such is the esteem in which Dave's talents are held in the NW musical community that some of the area's best players took the opportunity to contribute to his first CD. The obvious enthusiasm of the crew shines throughout, from classic honky-tonk to acoustic bluegrass, with the authenticity that only such a group can produce. Encore! - Rick Ravenscroft

  • Dave picks REAL country for REAL country fans.

Country Dave gives a superb performance of traditional country and bluegrass on this album. This recording shows the kind of experience and familiarity Country Dave has gained after several years pickin' country music all around the Northwest. This is just a good ol' CD with plenty of good pickin' and singin'. Buy it and enjoy some REAL country music.
