COREY STOOT, RENOWNED GUITARIST BIO Since picking up the guitar at age 12 at his parents home in Houston, Corey better known as “ Funkafangez ” whom is making his trade mark on the musical world. The seed for Corey’s musical career was planted as a teen-ager, while listening to his dad’s old albums; artists like Barry White, George Benson, Stevie Wonder and Ashford and Simpson. His father, the late John Stoot played with his band "John and Jumpin Jivers" in the late 50’s –and early 60’s and also played with legendary artist /cousin Rockin’ Sidney whom wrote the hit ; ("Don’t mess with my Toot Toot"). Dreaming and determined to follow in his dad’s footsteps, Corey began to work on his craft to find his sound that he would soon share with the world. As a teenager to an adult 1989-2007, Corey has performed in a gospel concert with the Karen Clark Sheard, Nikki Ross, Michael McKay and Kim Burrell. Jazz artist Joe Sample, Marion Medows, Kim Waters, (Flute artist) Athea Rene, Bobby Humphrey, Marcus Johnson, Bob Baldwin, Onaje Allen Gumbs, Norman Connors, Kyle Turner, (Trombone player) Andre Hayward, Roy Hargrove, Keith Anderson, Bobby Sparks, Smooth Jazz guitarist Peter White, R&B artist Carl Thomas, Glen Lewis, Morris Day and Jerome (currently members of the group, "The Time"), and the New Orleans brass horn section, "New Birth". Corey’s guitar has never been out of arms reach since. During the years, Corey Stoot expanded his musical horizons by heading into the studio working with hip-hop rap artists that included Producer Manny Fresh, UGK (Bun B,and the late Chad Butler (aka) Pimp C, Hot Boys (Juvenile, Lil' Wayne, B.G.), Method Man, Freeway, Swisha House, Mike Jones, Pall Wall, Lil’Flip , Lil’ Keke, The Late DJ Srew, Hawk, Slim Thug, The Rapalot Family, The Ghetto Boys, and Flava - Flav. Staying true to his music, Corey’s musical vibes began to get noticed. Before long he was working with Force MDs, Groove Collection, Oli Woodson (formerly from the Temptations), Roy Ayers, Buddy Miles, Con Funk Shun, George Clinton & the P-Funk All Stars, Phil Perry, and Kelly Rowland, world beat artist Bankie Banx ,Banji Maytaz ,Cat Core of the group Third World ,to name a few. In 2003, Corey was awarded recipient of the YMCA Young Minority Achievers Award. The year 2004-2006 proved to be a year of accolades working with mega artist Beyoncé Knowles and during the NBA All Star Game in Houston Texas, Corey has performed with Ocar winner actor/singer Jamie Foxx along with MC Lyte, Vesta Williams, and a live performance alongside hip-hop legend LL Cool J on the “The Late Night Show with David Letterman” to celebrate the shows 11th Anniversary .
