The Corduroys are an all original Rock band with a definite twang and solid pop sensibility. They have a wide array of influences and work hard to find the perfect balance between Rock, Country, Folk, Pop.
Debut Record July 2006: Transmission
The Corduroys debut record, "Transmission," is a collection of well crafted songs that reflects their rock/country roots and their capacity to write quality music. Each song exemplifies an ability to tap into Rock's past and take new steps towards carving their own place in music.
"Transmission" has many highlights including the explosive opener "Question." It kicks off with a fiery drum-filled intro and is carried by guitar driven verses. "Battleground" is full of twangy guitar hooks, catchy melodies, tasteful guitar solos, and smart lyrics. The harmony filled "Motel" sways between sweet country verses and a Bossa nova inspired chorus. The closer, "Cash in Your Pockets," is full of groove, fat guitars, and dark, haunting verses.
Every track on "Transmission" has its own feel and style, and captures the "Corduroy" sound from beginning to end.

Let me begin by saying this will be a biased review as I'm pretty close to the band. That doesn't really matter though because it ultimately comes down to the tunes. And man do they rock. Transmission comes storming out of the gate with a vengeance as Question leads the way toward the gates. Songs sway between the Alt Country swagger of Uncle Tupelo (Closin' In, Blame) to pure Southern rock guitar excursions of the Allmans(Battleground, Beginning of the End, Cash in your Pockets,Blue Door)to the pop sensibilities of the British Invasion and Van Morrison(This Time, Whiskey Sale). But the stand alone track that is truly a Corduroy creation is the eclectic Motel. This song manages to conjure up images both lyrical and musical of a time and place that I want to be a part of. Kudos boys. Keep rockin'

Smart feel-good alt rock, delicious guitar sounds and hooks
author: Jon PThis debut recording is a major success for the Corduroy boys. They certainly know their craft and exactly how to deliver this fun style of music in a honest and effective way. Upbeat catchy tracks such as Question, Closin In', and This Time, got my feet stompin on first listen. Some nifty guitar work on all the tunes, perhaps my favorite being the jam/groove oriented Blue Door, where Palmadessa shines as an aggressive front man with major chops. Also, the smooth delivery and vocal stylings of Ben Kumpf provide a perfect compliment to Palmadessa in songs such as Whiskey Sale, Battleground, and standout track Cash in your Pockets. This is a disc to check out for fans of catchy hooks, vintage guitar, and solid no frills songwriting.
