notes

Rene Escovedo's CON~PANNA is a band based out of the San Francisco Bay Area (The East Bay).

It is a 5 piece Instrumental band, Drums, Bass, Keys, and Percussion. This bands influences are many and massive just to give you an idea the founding member and drummer Rene Escovedo comes from a Latin music dynasty, All of his Uncles, his Father and Cousins are in the Biz, He was influenced as a kid by his late Uncle Coke Escovedo (Azteca) and His Uncle Pete Escovedo and his Cuz, Sheila E. to mention but a few at the age of 9 he began to take it more seriously and now after these many years of mastering his craft playing in bands, both Live/Studio he has put together a band that really "Kicks Ass" and you can easily see how this is his love. His Band consists of some real Monsters, On Bass is the man they call "Phat Albert" Hobson, Albert has many years of musical experience and it shows He looks so serious and you can rarely find a smile on his face and He has a seriously MEAN Groove.

On Percussion an Escovedo childhood Family friend Mio "Timbalero" Flores an energetic and fantastic all around percussionist, He brings over 25 years of experience to the table, He's a fireball who is so fun to watch Mio really "Turns it out" On the "Bones" is Juan "Uglyfingers" Blair Juan’s compatibility with the others in the band speaks to you as well as his abundance of chops, and his interplay with the Guitar player is always fun to watch. Last but certainly not least is the Guitar player Extraordinaire Bobby Simcox, Rene’s own personal Wild Man, Bobby is the man Front and Center his playing rivals his obvious influences (Carlos Santana, Al Di Miola, Phil Keaggy) You will be mesmerized and affected by Bobby's boundless energy and his infectious attitude It will rub off on you and if it doesn't you might want to check your pulse, cause you might be dead.

That in a nutshell is CON~PANNA I personally think they might have created there own genre (La phunk-jazion) (Give me a break, I'm working on a better name.) Give this cd a listen I know you'll love It!
