Her lack of pretension, surfeit of graceful confidence at a piano, and a lyricism which belies her age, make her recent EP, "Bird", easy to admire and difficult to forget.

notes
The daughter to a composer and a native of California, singer/songwriter Holly Conlan eschewed the austerity of an education in classical composition in order to write songs that haunt, amuse and linger. Her lack of pretension, surfeit of graceful confidence at a piano, and a lyricism which belies her age, make her recent EP, "Bird", easy to admire and difficult to forget.
When not performing with her own band at L.A. venues such as Tangier, The Roxy and the venerable Hotel Cafe, Holly can be heard singing back up with Hollywood stalwarts Buddy and Gary Jules. She also cut her teeth at 2007's CMJ festival.
The "Bird" EP was produced by Al Sgro (Meiko, Buddy, Gary Jules), mixed by Bryan Cook (Inara George) and mastered by Roger Siebel (Death Cab for Cutie's "Plans").

Holly is cereal about music
author: jonathanThe best EP I've bought in a long time. The songs are beautifully written and wonderfully executed. There is something very familiar and relaxing about listening to Holly's voice. Anxiously waiting for the a new full length album
Wonderfully playful
author: Howard PavaneHolly Conlan's EP is one of my favorite collections of songs. Great melodies and wonderful lyrics combined in a playfully serious manner make this one of the best acoustic albums by an indie singer-songwriter. Especially, when I don't have time to listen to an entire album this is the album that cheers me up on the short trips in my van. I am looking forward to Holly's next release.

Conlan masters the combination of playful and memorable melodies that want to make you play "Bird" on repeat as you drive along in your car. Her songs are beautifully written and won't dissapoint...a must have cd for all singer-songwriters. Overall, Conlan's cd "Bird" is not only inspiring, but gives hope to the music industry that true and raw talent still exists.
