notes
Concrete Blonde are a three piece band consisting of a guitarist (James Mankey) bassist/vocalist (Johnette Napolitano) and drummer (Gabriel Ramirez-Quezada). Originally formed in Los Angeles in 1981, they've released several albums and videos internationally, selling millions and touring worldwide.
"The Real Thing" is a limited edition single: the band is no longer together but Johnette is touring solo and will sign any
pre-sold CD's as well as granting holders of CD's bought from CDBABY free access to solo shows. For further details on this concept go to Johnette's MYSPACE. This is the first song of the set performed live until our troops come home.

The Real Thing
author: Stephanie RollingI saw Johnette perform this live in Nashville in May 2007 and it absolutely blew me away...so powerful. I had to have it, and was thrilled to find it here. JOHNETTE NAPOLITANO IS AWESOME!!
Mindblowing!
author: KellyI too was hesitating to pay $12 for one song, but then Johnette opened with it in Denver last month. Man, I couldn't speak or breathe or even cry, tho' the tears were welling and the catch in my throat actually hurt. Some art is power. Some songs are priceless.
There is no other!!!
author: Seth J. JonesConcrete Blonde Rocks.....this song Rocks....and CD Baby Rocks for helping me complete my collection. I received the CD within a week, along with the most hilarious shipping confirmation letter I've ever received. It added that personal touch, which I fully apprectiate!!
haunting eloquence, as always
author: methyWELL WORTH the $12, especially considering the autographs from all three band members. ABSOULTELY up to par with all of concrete blonde's tunes... hauntingly eloquent lyrics, the vicious growl of johnette's voice, the well executed music... all so very easy to embrace. this song makes me want to march up the white house steps, offer dubya a bag of pretzels, and then open up a verbal can of whoop-ass! BUY THIS CD, you will be so glad you did. i know i was!

The Real Thing is a great song, from an equally incredible band.
What a coincidence:
author: the truthPerhaps the most under-rated guitarist in rock, with the most under-rated singer in rock, together all these years in the same band. What a concept.
As always... Concrete Blonde is stellar
author: Dave from MaineSince my first encounter with Concrete Blonde running the lighting console for their 1st trip to Maine they had me... years later they still have me... the unique sound is and can only be from Concrete Blonde proving that they are still... The Real Thing
Overwhelmingly satisfying as well as the usual AMAZING!
author: Sir Gideon DeschainAs always happens when I aquire new CB, I was eager to hear the "tone", the PERSONALITY of the latest work...and as usual, Jim's magnificently simple guitar and Johnette's unique voice let me know that all remains right in the world of the Blonde. THANK YOU! P L E A S E T O U R A G A I N ! ! ! ! (from the N.C. Beefeater)
Words To Explain Our Fear
author: Mike WilkinsonThe future may reveal the truth about what is happening in the U.S. right now but I never expected someone to so accurately describe the fears that living under a giant unknown bring. Concrete has managed to do just that -- and with any luck maybe make us think.
True to the Times
author: LynnThis song really speaks to the current state of things and will get your mental wheels spinning about the reality of war. Definately worth the cost!
Awesome!
author: MaryJust as I thought - the CD is nothing less than awesome! The CD is inspiring, and just as riveting as previous recordings, if not more so.
A very timely song of truth
author: LauraThe song speaks the absolute truth regarding war, wish all US radio stations would play this song before voters go to the polls tomorrow!
Unique and a pleasure to purchase
author: Sal and friendsThis was a refreshing gift from Concrete Blonde--my friends and I enjoyed the uniqueness of the whole concept. Didn't mind at all paying $12. That's an affordable price for anything in 2004!
A good listen
author: JaimeA great song that all CB fans should own, but $12 is a bit much. I had the money, I bought it, I don't regret it in the slightest, but it is a bit high for most.
Very powerful and moving piece
author: Kevin GaylorThat's what I love about Johnette and Co.; she isn't afraid to speak her mind. And she's right-- war is fucked up, evil, and unnecessary, not to mention the slaughter of innocent thousands in Iraq. One thing though, I had thought this CD was going to be signed and numbered, and it wasn't. I could've ordered this off of Itunes for a buck... was paying 12 for what I thought was signed and numbered---pull it together people!
the real thing
author: Danielanything from Concrete Blonde is awesome.. as always I'm in awe at Johnettes voice..
Well...
author: EricGood to hear new material from Concrete Blonde of course but what's with the $12 price for a single? You can download the song for 99 cents on ITUNES, and it's definitnely worth that price but $12...it's not happening.
