notes
"The Coming Grass plays alt-country/roots rock the way The Replacements played rock and roll -with guts, whiskey and no apologies. But The Coming Grass have better harmonies." - Performing Songwriter Magazine
The Coming Grass released their debut CD to enthusiastic reviews and are geting airplay on a variety of Americana radio stations around the country.
They just began recording their second disc (to be released this fall) which features Ken Coomer (Uncle Tupelo, Wilco) on drums and Roger Gupton (The Backsliders) on bass.
Lead singer/songwriter Nate Schrock toured extensively in the U.S. and Japan with two bands based in New York City. The first was Paleface a punk/reggae r&r band that headlined CBGB and toured with the likes of The Clash, The Ramones, and Billy Idol. He later joined up with The Lost, a blues rock band who were then signed to Epic.
The band name refers to a shift away from the artificial, paved over world we are all getting to know and also a desire for organic life in music and the human experience.

Brilliant Roots Rock!
author: TMSmithThey are a great band with accents of The Jayhawks and Cowboy Junkies. A new fan is here to stay!

awesome cd I love it I am sharing it with my oler sister right now you all have deep and wonderful voices
talented band with punk in finger toes discovering hank williams..
author: Bart Ebischactually 3,5 stars...the coming grass is a talented alt country band. they still have punk in their finger toes, but want to discover the world over hank williams and george jones. this mix leads to a fresh alt country sound. On Sea Of Imagination we hear Sonic Youth for a moment but most of all it's alt country. best of all is that the coming grass has an own rough but also sweet sound. Singer Sara Cox sings on highlight No Harm: "Come near and tell me it's allright.Cause this time maybe you ain't lying". The Coming Grass may stay...
The best kept secret
author: Erwino OuwerkerkWhy have I never read somewhere that Son Volt and The Rolling Stones broke up and that the members all joined The Coming Grass? If I'd known about this Jay Farrar and Mick Jagger courtship, it wouldn't have surprised me finding this the best album I've heard since long way back. Everything about it is just brilliant. Funny though, that the news is also nowhere written on the cover... So I've learned to put away my expectations, burn my candles down and just let this music be my lover.
amazing arrangements, i love guitars that jarr the senses
author: Andrew Klein Music LoverI believe this is a self produced cd, and if it is, i want them to produce mine! this is a really deep listening experience. Kind of like sitting down with Electric Ladyland for the first time. Andrew Klein/ musician and new fan
