notes
"Imagine listening in on an old Blue Note record-an-LP-in-an-afternoon session, and you'll get the idea of where these talented 20- and 30- something hepcats are coming from." - Steve Stav, The Ballard News Tribune (Seattle WA)
The Combustion Collective is a Seattle WA-based group of musicians performing 100% improvised jazz and funk influenced grooves. All music is spontaneously composed and performed simultaneously. This guarantees a unique experience with every live performance and recording.
Leaning towards the new school of jazz - for good or bad sometimes referred to as Acid Jazz - comparisons have been made to Galactic, Soulive, The Brand New Heavies, Karl Denson and The Greyboy All Stars. Funky, Soulful and heavily focused on the groove - sit back and chill or get up and shake your thang.
The collective is Dave Kurtiak (bass), Stephen Morrisey (trumpet), Donovan Pfeifer (drums), Linus McTweed (guitar) and Abigail Fien (percussion).

Funkyitup to get down
author: Zack AttakIn the oversatcherated funkjazz scene it's hard to stand out, but these cats do damnit. A tight unit no dought. They don't need no stinkin keys or extra horns cause they got the funk.

Miles-like trumpet and cool funk beat
author: Ken JonesI saw the band play in Seattle and enjoyed their improvisatory funk-jazz. The trumpet sounds like Miles at times and the percussionists and bass keep the beat strong. Nice lead guitar with a Motown/James Brown feel.
