"...we think YOU should get a piece of them" Paul Mac & Daniel Johns Myspace Team
Members Luke Reichelt (Vocals/Bass), Michael Simms (Guitar/Vocals), Jeff Paton (drums) and Ian Peres (Keys) are all students at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University studying for a Bachelor of Popular Music. They have spent the last year recording material for 2 CD releases, their debut EP ‘Pasta of Muppets’ and their new album ‘Bin Night Anthems’. The Combovers have had success on mp3.com.au in the past year with their demos reaching the top 10 in the ‘Pop/Rock Artists’ charts. The Combovers have also received airplay on Bay FM in Cleveland and on the University of Manitoba campus radio station 101.5 UMFM in Canada.
"Their sound can be likened to US geek-rock icons Weezer, but harder on the ears, but in a good way!”
Emily Berndt, Undertow Street Press
In 2005, the band released their debut EP online, 'Pasta of Muppets', which is available through such online retailers as iTunes and CD Baby. The EP also features the ‘synthology’ of Jade O’Regan of Melbourne’s Jane Vs World. The EP gives audiences a glimpse of what’s to come from The Combovers and that’s the onslaught of Nerd-Pop/Rock that is their debut album 'Bin Night Anthems'. The band have also released audio streams of some of the tracks from the album on their Myspace page (address above).
They have played shows with the likes of Melbourne’s Jane Vs World and Man Bites God along with local Gold Coast acts such as White October and The Summer Was Hell. The Combovers also ‘got their nerd on’ at the Griffith University, Gold Coast Campus Open Day as they took part in a showcase with other emerging young acts from the Queensland Conservatorium.
“A must have album for every closet nerd” Alex Transfeld, Oz Music Show Bay FM 100.3

BIG DAY OUT 2006 (Gold Coast) was the launch of their debut album, 'Bin Night Anthems' which is now available for $15 at Skinny’s Music and Rocking Horse Records in Brisbane’s CBD, along with Music Mania and Sunflower Music on the Gold Coast!

Cool Man! It is a must have!
author: Lecia McPhail-BellThis album kicks ass! It is diverse, quirky, marketable and nerdy. It is punk but then it is pop, and then a country tune jumps out of no where! You dont get bored listening to this CD. The guitar sounds are fat, and the production is great. My ears are happy when I put this CD on. ..Cant wait for the next one! ......Lecia
A must have album for every "Closet Nerd"
author: Long Live Bin NightThe Combovers are 3 Bachelors of Popular Music students studying at the QLD Conservatorium who have released their debut album "Bin Night Anthems". After my first listen to the album, what has impressed me is the diversity of this bands songwriting. While all the members have a hand in this, the main songwriter Luke, has a gift for writing the perfect melodic quirky pop song. Luke has a dry comic strip, offbeat sense of humour in his lyrics which tell a fun story especially in tracks like "One Day They’ll Eat Him" and "You think Your So Smarts". However there is more to the band than Weezer like quirkiness. The tunes, "Under The Waves" & "Sumbwhere Numb definitely two of my favorite tracks, highlight the bands diversity for light and shade and brings out a more melancholic side to the band. While tunes like "Royal Red", & "Whap Happens To People Like Us" just really well structured, simply fine pop rock songs. Also, everytime I listen to an album there is always one tune that I will keep singing all day. The song from this album is "Radmobile" definitely my pick for the next single. Ben Lee eat your heart out - this track is a simple pop song, sooooo catchy I’m telling you radio will love it. The album was recorded over a 12 month period and I can really hear it, as the sound quality and production is very very good. The vocals are clear not muddy, so you can actually hear the words, yeah! The guitar levels are great, and the keyboards, which often have the main melody of the songs, sit really well in the mix, as do the harmonies. It’s great to hear an album that doesn’t sound over compressed or muddy. The production has really complimented and enhanced the quality of the songs. Overall a very impressive debut album from a band who have been together for only a little more than a year. A must have album for every "Closet Nerd". Long Live Bin Night I say!
