Dark melodic rhythms rattle the ground and course through the air like a heartbeat. Psychotic, twisted lyrical content sends audience members into an emotional tailspin. A seven-string guitar and five-string bass weave an intricate and layered web.

ROCK REBELS WITH A MESSAGE
The San Diego band, Colporter, paints with light on a canvas of black with their new album "Sovereign Mind".
Determined to carve a niche in unscathed Rock Music territory, the three members of COLPORTER have set forth in pursuing their unique sound of compelling songwriting and passionate heavy metal music showcased on their striking new album Sovereign Mind, out in stores July 11th. The tender voice of Sarah Paolini is steeped in the mesmerizing chords of her 5-string bass, which holds the quiet power in David Paolini's rough and eccentric 7-string guitar. Played against the cut-throat deliverance of Josh Mator's drum-playing, Colporter brings unforgettable music which seeks the light within the dark.
Rich melodies and impressive instrumentation is exactly what Sovereign Mind is all about. The striking combination of Sarah's 5-string bass guitar and David's awesome control over the 7-string guitar creates a force much larger than the sum of its parts. Joining forces with Steve Russell, who co-produced and engineered P.O.D.'s first three albums, their sound pushes the boundaries of modern heavy metal.
Russell, with the directional help of Steve Weatherby, owner of Global Artist Development, has arranged COLPORTER's unique sound to accomplish the feat of bringing a positive message into a genre that is full of negative emotion. David feels that this alliance has had a more positive effect on his sound. His guitar playing is already compared to significant guitar legends such as Zack Wild, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Eddie Van Halen, while sound engineers and musical experts are drawn to David's gripping sound and playing level. Emotional and provoking lyrics drip with eloquence as they write about spirituality, life, and hope. "Words have weight. You are responsible for the words you say and what you portray," Sarah explains.
Playing throughout San Diego and Los Angeles, COLPORTER continues to impress audiences of all backgrounds. With upcoming shows in iconic rock music venues such as The Roxy Theatre and The Whiskey A Go Go, COLPORTER summons the darkest and deepest waters in all audiences and puts on a fantastic show. Invited to perform at the L.A. Gates of Metal Festival in July, they will play alongside heavy metal veterans, celebrating great heavy metal music. Their most electrifying performance, however, will be on July 11th at COLPORTER's official album debut, titled Sovereign Mind, at The Whiskey A Go Go on Hollywood's Sunset Strip.

A great listen!
author: MarlonA terrific effort, which will probably appeal to fans of a few genres (Goth, Nu, Progressive), without being pigeonholed in any of them. It's nice to hear good songwriting without gimmicky shock-lyrics or testosterone dominated, over the top aggression. Grows on you with each subsequent hearing.
I'm hooked on Colporter
author: Andrew ScottAfter just one listen to this CD I have become hooked on Colporter! My favorite tracks are "All I Have" "Cannot Continue" and "Born To Serve" but the whole CD is great. Check it out!

author: Toine van Poorten/Metal Maidens magazineCOLPORTER plays alternative metal with wild loud riffs, and the pleasant voice of Sarah Paolini on top. It’s not nu-metal, it’s not heavy metal, it’s not gothic metal, but it’s everything inbetween. It contains a lot of power combined with a giant dose of melody as well. Twelve catchy tracks fill the forty-five minutes of music on this debut CD. COLPORTER hails from San Diego and they consist of Sarah Paolini on vocals and bass guitar, David Paolini on guitar and Gary George on drums. “Cannot Continue” sounds dark and depressing. Sarah pulls a five string bass, while David plays a seven string guitar. The riffs are quite heavy, but the vocals would sound much better to a more gothic metal sound. The PANTERA like riffs in “Don’t Let Me Fall” gives the song a nice twist in the middle. The music of COLPORTER might be suitable for radio airplay, although the lightly experimental character of a song like “Galaxy” might be too difficult to swallow for the average pop rock fan. Sometimes, their music tends to lean towards a heavier version of GARBAGE. In “Principal Of Envy”, we hear the distorted voice of Sarah. This indicates, we’re not just dealing with another average rock exponent, but a band that is not afraid to take some experimental steps. The average alternative rock fans might want to check out this first CD of COLPORTER. I think, they will like it, because the band is covering a broad range of styles, and turned it into a compact style of their own. It seems that after the release of the CD, the drummer has left the band. With a new drummer, the band is working on a new six track EP right now. To be continued!
Kick-ass!
author: Rob RoseGoth/Metal really isn't my thing, but damn this is good stuff! I stumbled across it while searching for something completely different, but now I'm hooked. The CD went straight from the cdbaby.com postpack into the stacker and hasn't seen it's case since!
i already want more...
author: bladesimagine, if you can, nu-metal guitars. make 'em heavier. imagine gwen stefani after she'd taken singing lessons from the likes of layne staley and melissa auf der maur, and then decided to improve on them. imagine a bassline that grabs you by the throat and doesn't let you go. that's almost, but not quite, how colporter sound. it's a heavy, bone-crunching, bass-intensive sound over which the vocals float with intensely twisted harmonies to reel you in. you *have* to hear this album...
Move over Evanescence!
author: StephenCWow! Where has this band been hiding?!?! If you like female-fronted metal, you'll love this CD. The bassist is also the vocalist and is a lovely female, not that it matters. But she plays an awesome five-string bass. The lead guitarist plays a seven-string guitar. The product is some bone-crunching riffs. Although the tunes are all very heavy, they are very catchy. Some of the songs you won't be able to get out of your head! The lyrics are simple but mature and thought provoking at the same time. There's no "Kill Mother, Kill Father" crap or nasty language. Great stuff. These guys deserve a major label distribution.
