notes

When Michael Colone was still a teenager in his native Detroit, he was signed to a songwriting contract by legendary music producer Don Davis, who took him to record with the renowned Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section.

After touring the college circuit with his Country Rock band, Old Buck, he then teamed with European clown Jango Edwards to write songs and travel with the internationally acclaimed Friends Roadshow.

In the late '70s, Michael founded the avant garde jazz fusion group, Prismatic, which released several records and performed concerts with many of the top names in progressive, jazz, reggae and rock music, including Pat Metheny, Jimmy Cliff, Chick Corea, Peter Frampton, Peter Tosh, McCoy Tyner, Stanley Clarke, Jean Luc Ponty, Spyro Gyra, the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Mose Allison and more.

After relocating to Los Angeles, he took on the performin name "Michael On Fire" and continued to gig nightly, playing all original music. In L.A., his "Pre-Dawn Chronciles" record was co-produced with Stephen Stills and Joe Vitale. After recording the live "Commanche Moon" CD, which made many critics' Top 10 lists, Michael On Fire took to the road, performing in every nook and cranny of the country, 300 days a year, for years on end, in clubs and in concert with artists such as Taj Mahal, Los Lobos, David Crosby, Delbert McClinton, Chris Isaak, Stephen Stills, Hot Tuna, Warren Zevon, Keb' Mo, Little Feat, Joe Walsh, Dion, the Marshall Tucker Band, Commander Cody, Jefferson Starship, Big Head Todd and The Monsters, and more.

His "Keepers of the Flame" and "Venus in the Daytime" CDs received rave reviews in the nation's top publications, and California's BAM Magazine did a cover story on him, naming him "one of the top five artists in the world deserving of greater recognition."

In 1998, while living in Nashville, Michael On Fire wrote, produced and directed a children's CD and video, and created instrumental music for film and television. His "Enchanting Holiday Music" has received extensive airplay worldwide on The Weather Channel for each of the past six years.

His latest release is "Oh My God What Am I Doing Here?" a live CD from the highly acclaimed Tales From The Tavern series.

We have been enchanted with Michael Colone's holiday music ever since we first heard it played on the Weather Channel. We are very pleased to finally have the CD so that we can enjoy the music throughout the holiday season. Michael Colone's compositions are a sparkling alternative to the standard holiday sounds.

Wow !!! For years, we've tried to get the Weather Channel to tell us titles of their Christmas holiday music, but no one there knew any info on it. Today, we found a clip on YouTube that told us a title and found the CD here with Google. Close your eyes and you'll see reindeer prancing with jingling sleigh bells...Wow!!!

  • Enchanting indeed!
