notes
After fronting her LA-based rock band for two and a half years, Coles Whalen knew it was time to jump start a solo career. She released an EP, bought a truck and camper, and never looked back. In the next 12 months, she played over 150 venues across 10 states in the western U.S.
“Her voice has more than enough power to carry a rock anthem, but she prefers to use that power to sustain her gentler, more pensive moments. Her pitch and articulation - vocal and instrumental - are flawless” wrote Malcolm McCollum of Steppin’ Out Magazine, a local Denver newspaper. Coles Whalen sold well over 2,000 copies of her first CD right out of the back of that truck.
Parking the camper, Whalen recorded a full-length album, Gee Baby, in February of 2005. But the camper didn’t stay parked for long. In the next year and a half, Coles Whalen played over 450 shows throughout the entire United States and sold more than 7,000 CDs. She has performed both solo, with her new band, and has shared the stage with Melissa Ferrick, Reckless Kelley, Gran Bell Fisher, and Tyler Hilton among others. Ricardo Baca, Pop Music Critic for The Denver Post said of Whalen’s live performance “Whalen delivers an absolutely great show, she left a lasting impression on me.”
Whalen is releasing her third album, “Nothing is Too Much” in April of 2007 on Iconic Records. A national tour to support this release will definitely be coming to a venue near you.
Alone on stage, accompanying herself on guitar and piano, Coles Whalen’s “enchanting voice is soulful, powerful and straight from the heart” -Monica Younge, Indie Music Reviews. Her fans know. Now you know.
Watch for the truck.

Kicking CD!
author: Paul HarperDropped on Coles via Laura Marie on MySpace (this is the way forward in finding new music - stick your cheesy radio jocks!). Liked the samples so bought the CD. Only disappointment was that there was only 6 tracks. Mighty fine sound production and real kicking tracks. Particularly like the upbeat Getting Side. The disk starts out low and soulful and builds up and up till you're tapping your fingers on the steering wheel and bouncing up and down in traffic! Cool stuff Coles - thanks for the ride.
A great little CD with great vocals, variety and passion
author: Tim DegerOnly six songs, but I keep playing them over and over. I heard Coles on an alternative station in Denver and had to get the CD. I saw on her myspace page that Eva Cassidy was an influence and she has similar vocal range and purity. The songs on the CD range from soft ballads to rockin' crank up the volume tunes and even some country sounds. Buy the CD and you can say I knew about her music BEFORE she was big.
Hardest working artist I know, very passionate about her music
author: Dan DallaireI learned of Coles a little over a year ago. Her album, Gee Baby just blew me away. As well, her EP was refreshing and both releases demonstrate her beautiful voice quite nicely. I also have the great fortune of seeing her perform in some small, intimate venues here in CT. She is exactly as she seems. Kind, sweet, and one helluva performer ;). Nothing Is Too Much is just the next progression of her musical talents. Coles has a habit of making you say "...we want more..."!! Thumbs up Coles!!
"Nothing is too Much" is nothing short of AWESOME!
author: Alicia MurphyI stumbled upon this artist just searching around on myspace and I found her page. As soon as I heard the track "Call on Me" and "The Getting Side" I fell in love with the entire CD! It is an upbeat pop-rock type sound that music lovers of all genre types can relate too, and her sound is only complimented by her amazing lyrics! Check out this CD or you will be loosing out! Ali M
