“Bold Tattoo”, the second release from Cliff Boulder (a.k.a. Ted Cobena, Jr.) continues with lush, atmospheric soundscapes but now the highlight is on percussion. An assortment of hand drums, chimes, tambourines, cymbals, gongs and the trap set were used to help create these 11 melodic instrumentals. Even the name of the CD is rooted in drumming. The word “tattoo” is defined in The American Heritage Dictionary as….”a signal sounded on a drum..”.
Sailboats and soul searching, silence and serenity are all themes woven into the fabric of this bold tattoo. As the CD progresses, the listener is transported on a journey to the stars in space, through the eye of a hurricane, and to the depths of the sea. One will visit with the elephants of Africa, feel a warm desert wind and experience a sunset in a far away land.
As Cliff says, “With music there are no boundaries”. So open your mind, hear the music, and let your imagination take you to places that only spirits dwell.

author: JudithI don't even know where to begin with Bold Tatoo, except to say that this is a delightful treat for the senses. I played this first at home on my CD player and it was an incredibly joyful experience. I felt transformed throughout. That was nothing compared to playing this yesterday in my car on the way to a spiritual workshop, which resulted in the most amazing energy running through my body, I felt as if I was going to take off and fly! Track 5 is absolutely indescribable. Put your headphones on and allow the richness of the beats on this track to take you up and out of whereever you are! I absolutely love this CD and highly recommend it!

author: MansonAt first, Cliff Boulder's album sounds a bit new-agey, but the music gets more interesting--and involving--upon repeated listenings. This recording is beat-based and includes lots of world music influences. Cliff's brief liner notes explain the origins of the 11 tracks. Definitely worth hearing!
