The Birth Of A Band

Roger Fisher and Mike Derosier were among the founding members of
international rock group, Heart. They provided the foundation for all
of Hearts' early hits - most notably, Barracuda, with one of Roger's
famous riffs recently sampled on the 2005 Eminem album Encore.

Rick Knotts was half the firepower from the guitar-driven rock
band,Rail. His group won the first-ever MTV basement tapes awards
and went on to tour extensively with Van Halen in support of Rail's
heavy-rotation MTV videos, Hello and 1,2,3,4.

Lynn Sorensen is also Paul Rodgers (Bad Company, The Firm, Queen)
bassist and a very sought after musician, also playing with
Sir-Mix-a-Lot.

For these four accomplished musicians to team up with newcomer, British
singer/songwriter Mike Curley-he must have shown them something great.

Mike Curley, hailing from Birmingham, England writes profound lyrics
that touch on some of the most important aspects of any person's
personal experience. His melodies touch the soul and move an inward
place that is all too often dormant.

The five of them, in a spirit perfectly befitting their collective
personalities, are called CLEVER BASTARDS. Their musicianship is
astounding and has resulted in a debut CD entitled,THE GREAT
UNCONFORMITY.

Cb's have currently been enjoying rotational airplay on a number
of northwest radio stations - played sold out Seattle shows - Opened
for Reo Speedwagon - Styx - Foreigner at the Gorge Amphitheater in
Eastern WA, and will be closing out the Sonoma Film Festival in April.

The album is available worldwide on iTunes and other well known digital
distribution outlets and a CD / DVD " Meet The Bastards " will be avialable shortly via podcast.

  • First CD I have thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish in many years
    author: Eric Mulvany

This is the first CD I have purchased and enjoyed from start to finish in many years. It had a unique flavorful sound that was unlike anything I have heard recently and what I would expect from such talented artists. I hope to increase publicity of CB in the Michigan area. Thanks to the artists for a great CD and hopefully many more.

  • The Great Unconformity is a Great album!
    author: Jessica

This album is awesome. All of the members brought something to the table with this album whether it be vocals, guitar, bass, strings, drums, or song-writing. It has something for everyone whether you like softer music or hard rock. This is a MUST BUY!

  • A rich tapestry, filled with texture and intricacies.
author: Amy from the Human Tribe

Close your eyes and you will hear a rich tapestry, filled with texture and intricacies. Exquisitely woven; lyrics and vocals, distinctive guitar, rich bass and solid percussion. Each song touches my emotions. Every song is a gem! It is hard to have a favorite song (they are all so good) but I especially like Play Away and Crazy. I listen to this CD every day!

Must have CD! A Fresh Sound. Emotionally charged vocals of british singer Mike Curley are a perfect compliment to the distinct guitar sound reministant of early Heart recordings. No wonder, the lineup features Roger Fisher and Mike Derosier (original Heart lineup). Rick Knotts on rhythm guitar, especially beautiful 12 string and harmonized guitar parts with Fisher. Add to that are solid hypnotic bass lines from bassist Lynn Sorensen formerly of the Paul Rodgers Band. Great job Rog! I love it.

  • Nice Album
    author: Ronna Avery

I just listened to some of CB tracks on your site, and wow does Mike C. have a scratchy & sexy voice, loved it and now I love him, ha-ha-ha JK!! Liked Mike D. lead in on the cymbals on "Crazy" nice! Loved the guitars and drums on "Big City" - beautiful! From start to finish the drums & guitar rock in "Never Too Late"! Loved Mike D. drumming in "Master" I love it when he plays deep, hard and loud!!! "Heaven to me" absolutely beautiful. The start of “Ghost” with the acoustic guitars and cymbals had that Mistrial Wind sound/feel but then goes in a completely different direction which was fab!! BTW: Mistrial Wind/Heart has always been one of my favs by you guys, starts out soft and dreamy and then just rocks out, with your incredible guitar licks and Mikes drumming it still knocks me out to this day, oh and the lyrics have always hit me deep. Hope to hear you guys live soon.

  • Great Album
    author: Phillip Rauls

Clever Bastards is the best album that I've heard come out of Seattle in the last 15 years. I'm particularity fond of the production techniques that compliment the exceptional work of mandolin/guitarist Roger Fisher. His polished work stands out considerably. My god, where's he been hiding all these years. Also, the distinctive drum rolls and snare tuning are vintage Mike Derosier. "The Great Unconformity" is one fine album. Phillip Rauls

Hey Rog, It was great to see you at the Gorge. It sounded really good, I love the CD. Thank you very much. One of the Styx fans did a great write up on CB and posted the link to this site on the Styx board. She got some good pics too. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Dale
