notes
Clay Boland Jr. was born in Philadelphia, wrote for the Mask and Wig shows at the University of Pennsylvania, and worked for many years in New York City as a songwriter, arranger, and pianist. He later became a teacher at Colorado Mountain College. In addition to playing at the historic Hotel Colorado and participating in jazz and classical concerts, he has appeared as soloist performing Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, Grieg's A minor Concerto, and Mozart's Concerto in G major.
His other recordings include: Bechstein & Boland, Steinway & Boland, Jazz Piano Improvisations (Vol. 1 & Vol. 2), Santa's Songbook (jazz versions of Christmas favorites), and a collection of original compositions titled World Enough and Time. This is his second CD of piano interpretations of Ira and George Gershwin's songs.
