notes

Jennifer Clarke is a singer/songwriter from Cork, Ireland. Born on September 27th 1984 she lived in Cork for four years until her father’s work moved her and her family to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania until 1991. She then moved back to Ireland for a year until the family moved again, this time to Bahrain until 1995.

Having returned to Ireland, she finished school in 2002 and went on to graduate from the Music, Management and Sound course at Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa’s Performing Arts Department after two years of study.

2005 saw her take part in a third-year Bursary Scheme in the college in which she specialised in songwriting, performance, recording, media and image development. During this year, she worked closely with industry professionals culminating in several headline gigs and the release of her debut single ‘Right Back At The Start’, which was launched in Cyprus Avenue, Cork by singer/songwriter Sinead Lohan. The single, produced by Declan Sinnott, was co-written by Jennifer and Chris Ahern. It generated huge interest, resulting in her playing Special Guest to Ronan Keating at the Marquee, Cork last summer and securing a national distribution deal with RMG Chart Records. April 2006 sees Jennifer release her second single ‘It’s Alright’.

She has recently been snapped up by top music manager Mike Maska (Joe Jackson and formerly Rickie Lee Jones) and is planning a trip to the USA next summer, where she will showcase her material for top record companies.

Her influences come from a wide range of music including artists from the seventies such as James Taylor, Carol King and Joni Mitchell, the eighties ‘techno-era’ such as Michael Jackson, George Michael and Gloria Estefan and more recently Alison Krauss, Suzanne Vega and the Dixie Chicks.

Jennifer is no stranger to the stage and has been performing regularly for the past two years. She has played in venues such as The Lobby, Triskel Arts Centre, Cyprus Avenue, Cork City Hall, the Galway Film Festival, the Hilfiger Sessions in Crawdaddy, Dublin and more recently the Marquee and 02 in the Park, Phoenix Park.

Yes! This lady knows what it takes to make a great song. Her voice is that of an angel, her songs are well played and well produced. Wish I could sing a duet with you Jennifer, that would be wonderful...for me! :-) Wish to hear more of your great talent.

  • Beautiful music!
author: Doug Morris, Indie Music Appreciation Group

Okay, there are only 2 tracks on the disc, BUT, what beautiful music it is! I promise you, the track "It's Alright" is worth the cost alone! Jennifer has such a sweet, wonderful high soprano voice that she sings like an angel. Did you know that she plays the keyboard parts herself?! Did you know that she wrote this song herself?! Did you know she has written a lot of songs?! I can't wait till her first full album is released. She may be Irish born, but her music is for the world!! Read more about her and listen to clips from a lot of her songs on my site. Just click the link above. Thank you Jennifer!
