notes
The In-between is a slow burn of a stunner . . . acoustic balladry at its best.
- The Commercial Appeal
[Clare's] singing suggests awakening on a sunny morning, a breeze whispering through soft curtains; it's rumpled, a little seductive, and highly musical.
- The Nashville Rage
Joined by some of Nashville's finest players on upright bass, drums, lap steel, accordion, and the B3 (their credits include Patty Griffin, Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris, Nanci Griffith, The Dixie Chicks), "her cool coo of a voice, her smart songwriting and the lush backing of guitarist/ mandolinist/ co-producer Lex Price" firmly establish Clare as a stand-out artist at the crossroads of Americana, folk, and moody pop.

I was turned on to Clare through pandora.com, which made me an Ani DiFranco radio station and started churning out the good times acoustic folk rock. Really enjoy the album, quiet and soulful without being pretentious about it. You should buy it...like now.
one of my favorites
author: KI have seen Clare live a bunch of times and HIGHLY recommend catching a show. I never get sick of listening to this cd - its sad, beautiful.
Loved it!
author: AnnalisaI love listening to Joni Mitchell, fell in love with Norah Jones long ago when I first heard her, and Clare Burson fills that space nicely. Her sound is a modern combination of folk and a little bit of country. I've listened to this CD multiple times. Each time, I think I've found my favorite song, and each time, I'm wrong.
My Cousin referred me...
author: AnsonWow...what a great CD and a very talented vocalist. This CD is rich in vocal, lyric and tone. I absolutely love Clare's writing and music. Her insightful writing blended with a sweet innocence in her voice make her music absolutely mesmerizing. I was introduced to her music by a relative on the west coast...she really hit the target!

author: MeMe HagersI absolutely love Clare Burson's In-Between! I can think of nothing better after a long day at work than putting on her song You Got Me! This CD has got me! Thanks Clare!
It's a pleasure to lose yourself in this sound.
author: AngClare has a gift of writing lyrics specific enough to touch you to the core from so many different perspectives all at the same time. Together with her homey, comfortable voice, this collection lets you lose the world a while.
What a voice.
author: NickClare's voice and songwriting capabilities rock my world. Thanks Clare!
This album is astonishing.
author: BonnieThis album is astonishing. I began listening to it three weeks ago, and haven't listened to anything else since. "Tonight" is one of the most heart-wrenching songs I've heard in ages; I tear up every time I hear it (that's a lot of crying for three weeks, if you figure it right). "Another Day Down" is upbeat and catchy--a perfect road song. Actually, I'd say the whole album is perfect. So, buy the album.
Always Great
author: CraigI love the album and have purchased it for a half dozen friends all of whom now have it on regular rotation and totally dig it.
I can't stop listening!
author: AnneThis CD is so beautiful, from the first note to the last. I've played it five bazillion times since I got it (that might be a slight exaggeration), and the songs keep getting better. It reminds me of summer, of a road trip down a two-lane highway, of naming constellations on a clear night. Buy it, you'll be so happy you did!
Amazing! Loved it!
author: jennifer bowenI loved all the songs. A range of emotional tunes to good times in the car songs. I've listened to it a million times. Beautiful!
Foot-tapping, humming along songs that mean something!
author: Matt BrownI was turned on to this artist by Scott Register in Birmingham. Great songwriting, Great voice! What a combination. My kids wont let me take it out of the CD player. It's rare to find something to listen to that the kids and parents enjoy. Keeps us foot-tapping and humming along. We want more!
Brilliant debut
author: EwenThis is one of those artists whom on first listening you know will have a very successful career in the music industry. To produce an album of this quality first out shows a songwriting maturity beyond her years. Delicate vocals along with minimal instrumentation create a beautifully balanced, almost dreamy sound. Brilliant.
Zen-like observations rendered in a dreamy voice
author: Jack Silverman - The Nashville SceneBurson’s new disc 'The In-Between' is filled with lyrics that focus on the subtle moments of transcendence between life’s big events. More poetic than political, her songs – Zen-like observations rendered in a dreamy voice – suggest someone floating above her world, taking it in without judgement. 'The In-Between' also avoids the strummy nebulosity of much folk-rock, weaving distinctive melodic lines with thoughtful instrumentation and enough rhythmic diversity to stick to the ribs.
This record is a treasure . . . bare and beautiful . . . disarmingly honest . .
author: www.puremusic.comA touching, wonderful disc . . . this record is a treasure. The tones and the arrangements are bare and beautiful. Co-producer Lex Price's spirit resonates throughout, and he plays lovely electric guitar that seems to melt into the tracks . . . Clare's alto is disarmingly honest and brought peace to my Sunday troubled mind. The relaxed feel of every track speaks to a wisdom beyond her years . . . With 'The In-Between,' Clare Burson has already carved a place for herself as a true musician in the world of singer songwriters . . .
