Gospel saxophonist and recording artist Charles johnson Jr., has a contemporary style that is anoninted and inspirational. Charles, a native of Dayton Ohio, has been uniquely gifted to be able to play all woodwind and brass intruments and also the piano. Charles has performed in churches and concert halls throughout the country, and has been referred to as "The gospel Kenny G" by some of his listening audience. Charles has performed on a live taping of the "Bobby Jones Gospel Explosion", in 1996. Charles relocated to the Baltimore Maryland area in 1997, in order to expand his music ministry. Since moving to Maryland, Charles has performed on the "Baltimore's First Gospel Live At The Apollo", and won second place honors. Charles also performed at the 1998 GMWA National Convention in Philadelphia PA. On October7, 2000 Charles released his debut album entitled "Hymns For Him". This insirational album which features Charles on sax, flute and keyboards, takes classic hymns such as "Amazing Grace, "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and "Holy, Holy, Holy" to a new dimension of praise. Charles has performed on concerts or recorded with numerous local and national recording artists including; the late Eleanor Wright, Yolanda Adams, The Canton Spirituals, MiMi Redd, Kim Burrell, and the Winans to name a few. It is Charles' sincere prayer and desire, that his music ministry will compel individuals to surrender their lives completely to Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.

This brother plays from the heart...
author: Chip and Rosalind DizardThis CD is really good. Charles does his "thing" on the sax. One of my favorite songs is "Shelter in the Time of storm." I was listening to this today and it brought me to the realization that God is there even in the bad times. Order this CD, you won't be disapointed. God is working in Charles'life! Charles, continue to minister to the masses...
