notes

A Note From The Producer/Arranger, Charles Calello:
During my 40-year career as a record producer and musicial arranger, I've had the privilege of working with some truly talented artists. When I reflect on my experiences, I feel a deep sense of pride knowing that I've had the opportunity to help shape the careers of several recording artists. And while my career is filled with many fond memories, there are a few projects that will alsways hold a very special place in my heart. Every once in a while, a relationship forms between and artist and a producer/arranger that inspires a unique level of creativity. It's not something that can be planned, and it's not something that can be achieved through public opinion or acceptance. It is a rare occurrence and arrives without any advance notice. When it happens, the feeling is always the same and the result is something truly magical. Songs fall into place, arrangements take on a life of their own, musicians are delightfully challenged, the engineer becomes emotionally involved, the studio becomes the perfect environment, and the artist exceeds everyone's expectations. Such is the case with this Michael Civisca CD. Michael was blessed with a deep, richly colored baritone voice. From the first time we met and I listened to him sing, I felt the deep sense of passion he had for his music. It is a joy to know that what we have created also has that elusive special character that signifies greatness. I hope you share my feelings as you listen to our music. -- Charlie Calello.

Loved every song, his voice suits big band arrangements so well. Did he really write Love Is Like A Breeze? More like that Michael please. Do you plan to come to England? Keep up the good work.

  • Michael's best album so far!
    author: Tim Rudman

Love is Like a Breeze is an album that so easily could have come out of the Capitol or Reprise archive of the 50's or 60's. Great orchestral arrangements from Charles Calello, who had worked with Sinatra, and a great collection of songs in several stylings. On first hearing the album offers up some surprises Wild is Love is a swinger in the great old tradition and the ballads The Very Thought of You and If I Ruled The World are lush ballads with full string orchestrations that show Michael's range and phrasing off perfectly. Then you come to Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone and Just One of Those Things - songs that have long been in the standard repartoire but given personalised and unique treatments. The Cole Porter classic is amply demonstrated that it can receive a contemporary treatment and be as fresh as ever it was. I have bought Michael's previous albums with smaller backings but this album proves that Michael can step up to the mark in front of 75 musicians. Michael- get back in front of an orchestra - This is the real deal! Tim.

Being from Buffalo area and former muisican AND fan of Bobby Darin and Sinatra, I had to buy this CD...He does more than justice to the selections...If you want to hear some great songs by a terricic artist, by all means you should have this CD.......His BLUE SKIES with trio CD is equally entertaining.
