Unique and intense, City of David is a high-energy, contemporary Christian rock band with an edge; a kind of a Switchfoot meets Dave Mathews meets Maroon 5 band.

notes

The heartbeat of City of David is singer, songwriter and musician, David Quiles. David is deeply involved in his second year as the worship leader of a local church along with two of his band members, Bob Guss and Robert Gugliuzza, his sister, Jennifer Mowell and long-time friends, Tom and Rachael Streifel.

David, plays rhythm guitar, and also can play the drums, keyboard, bass guitar and lead guitar, has an incredible and unique voice and is the lead vocal artist of the band!

His band grew out of a couple of stops Quiles made along his youth ministry path. His first introduction was to an incredibly talented young man, on fire for Christ, Bob Guss, whose personal testimony of his journey to a relationship with the Lord will bring you to tears. He plays bass guitar with the band, but his first instrument was rhythm guitar. He has been known to play a drum lick or two, also sings backups with the band. Being quite the comedian, he will also tell you that he's great on the kazoo.

While doing some recording at Visual Volume Studios in West Palm Beach, David became good friends with the studio owner, Robert Gugliuzza fondly known to all as Bobby G. Bobby now plays lead guitar in the band, and sings back-up and lead vocals. Coming from a family of talented musicians, whos father is a well-known New Orleans drummer, Bobby G. also plays drums, keyboard and bass. Bobby G has been writing and performing in South Florida for the past fifteen years with a sound for all ages. He played with LADEN, an independent AOR band who released Politics of Life in the late 90s. The CD sold several thousand copies and made its way onto the CMJ (College Music Journal). Laden opened for national bands like Foghat, Night Ranger, Rodger Waters and many more. Bobby also worked with Hi-Fi Sister, and played at the SunFest Music Festival, along with a handful of other festivals during his tenure with Hi-Fi Sister. He also was a part of two live TV shows, and opened up for Boston in West Palm Beach, Florida.

David met his drummer, Seneca McGraw, through his wife. Seneca sports many talents besides his incredible drumming ability. He plays keyboard, his backing vocals are rich and smooth and he is also a songwriter and rapper.

On June 30th, 2007, City of David released their self-titled, debut album, co-produced with associates and partners, Tom and Rachael Streifel of World Shaker Ministry, Inc. They performed to a sold out crowd as they opened for national recording artist, Jimmy Needham giving back to the community with over 100 free tickets to corporate sponsors, youth groups and non-profit organizations.

City of David's lyrics speak boldly of their relationship with the Lord. That uncompromising spirit is heard in songs like "Mercy and Grace," which documents our Father's love for His children, and how incredibly merciful our Lord is. With a song like "Simple," Quiles challenges all of us to see how simple our lives can be with God our Father guiding us, making a relationship with Him, a way of life . . . not a religion.

The band's experiences working with a variety of cultures and faiths have equipped them to minister to the varied parts of the Body of Christ.

City of David's mission is to share their message of God's mercy and grace through their personal testimonies and music and to share their relationship with God and the outpouring of His grace in a meaningful way.

The band is experiencing a whirlwind of activity, but are not taking their eyes off the fundamental message they are committed to share . . . a message of hope, mercy and grace through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Beginning in August of this year, they will be the headlining band for local Christian radio station, ReachFM, on a regional church concert series tour. They will be kicking off this tour with a special guest appearance with Shaun Groves at ReachFM's HomeTown Back to School Bash on August 23rd.
