notes
After being involved for over 15 years in modern concert music, composer Denis Schingh turned to popular music for inspiration and formed CITÉ. Arrive en ville consists of arragements and adaptations of traditionnal Québec folk songs, except for one original song. The title means “Come into the city”, but is also a colloquial expression meaning “Get with it”, which suggests a modern, urban take on traditionnal music. In the early 70s, several Québec musicians did rock versions of traditionnal folk songs, which allowed a whole generation to rediscover and experience traditionnal music in a new way. Today, 35 years later, these songs are ripe for a new update, this time with trip-hop and lounge grooves, R & B beats, and a techno-pop approach.

Arrive en ville
author: Antonia SalmonGreat idea! So children's ears, used to more 'modern' rhythms, can still like and learn old traditional songs. I, as an adult, enjoyed very much as well. Une fois de plus, bravo Denis! Au prochain disque! Antonia
