The joys and pains of letting go and holding on to self-image, love, and family are some of the personal yet universal themes on Kristin Cifelli's new CD entitled "So Long My Love".
Kristin returns to the music scene with an album that has simple, yet elegant and rich production. The album, produced by bass player Richard Gates (Paula Cole, Suzanne Vega- to name a couple of many) showcases her crafty, yet emotional songs delivered by a powerful but angelic voice that just won't quit. This new album is sure to send her music career to new heights.
Kristin's songwriting is thoughtful and articulate. In "Let it Go" she writes, "...So you hold on tight to the pain you know/Let it Go, Let it Go". It's a song about knowing when to let go: about making peace gracefully and effortlessly. In "Show Them", a song about briefly running away from one's truth to hop on the ever-familiar bandwagon, Kristin writes, "...Show them exactly what I think they wanna see/At the same time I go on pleasing my family/What happened to whatever it was I wanna be?..."
As on her debut CD, Silver Bowl, Kristin's voice shines on So Long My Love. It's an emotional release that feels as good as a hard cry or a belly laugh."
So Long My Love is a collection of Kristin's experiences over the past 4 and a half years, although it took less than 3 days to record. Kristin explains, "What a great feeling to just discharge these years' experiences in just 2 days. It was extremely cathartic and I felt pretty relaxed recording the songs the way in which we did." As she puts it, they are her "victory scars". The songs come from a genuine place, and are sure to strike a chord in the masses or tug at several heart strings.

Refreshingly transcendent of my expectations
author: Crystal RheaSo Long My Love is an amazing album of depth and quality. For me, it is as though Patty Griffin and Jess Klein had a love child. If you like Jess even a little, you will love Kristin. While outstanding, she's not preeminent to Patty Griffin, for no one is, but she surely can hold her own! This album is a must have for anyone who likes emotion and a little angst (but not angry angst, and not teen angst), and longing in their music. And really, who doesn't? If you must choose one of Kristin's albums, this one is it. Trust me. BUY THIS ALBUM!
What a voice
author: TamouzWow. That voice is so good it will rip right through you. Almost make you cry. Granted, the songs are your typical said female singer-songwriter material, but I have never heard anyone sing it as well as she does. Oh wow, she must be heard and enjoyed.

And "So Long my Love" does not disappoint! 10 songs with the Voice,Songwriting, Melody and arrangements on all songs that cannot be better. My favorite is "Love Your Hurt" with style and lyrics that truly move even skeptics like me. Kristin Cifelli is one of a handful of artists that if the world was fair, would be making millions off their talent. I still believe that soon, millions will be hearing and loving "So Long My Love" as much as I.
Deeper lyrics, more melodic
author: Tennisgirl"So Long My Love" has been in my CD player since the afternoon I got it. Every passenger in my car from age 15 to 85 has asked me who has "that voice", so I tell them to guess. The comparisons are made but Kristin always comes out ahead as a "better version" of.... The next question I get is "Can I hear that song again?" and then we finally agree that this CD is the best we've heard in decades. Without a doubt, it will be the one that puts Kristin Cifelli on the cover of Rolling Stone!
