notes

"Same/Same: Songs for Adoptive Families" is an album of 11 original songs about adoption, perfect for families with children from 3-10 years of age.

Adoptive Families magazine calls it "catchy" and "clever" and notes that...
"the lyrics put to music how children think and feel about adoption. The title track tells how adopted children fit in and belong to their forever families. Other songs perceptively tap into common issues, such as invasive questions, worrying about permanence, and testing parental limits.,. Many tunes are toe-tappers, others more reflective.
In the sweetest of ballads, "Sometimes I Wonder," a parent invites children to share their thoughts about an unknown birthmother:
Some days I ask myself "Where is she now?
In the city, or country, with a family?
And how have the years treated her?
Has she started anew?
Sometimes I wonder, do you?
For kids who don't like to talk about adoption, this CD may help get those crucial conversations started naturally."

I'm buying another one of these! Ours is so perfect for our family. Another adoptive family heard it and loved it too. Made a great gift for them too! Blessings, Chuck Kent!

  • So glad to have something to connect with

My 2 year old daugther loves to dance to all of the songs and started learning/singing them after the first time hearing it. A definite plus for any adoptive family.

i have not ordered it yet but i will be. my son is biracial and i am not. he is the joy of my heart. he just learned this year what adoption really means. he is six. this has been difficult, but he is a very attached little boy to me.like glue i would say. thank you for such a wonderful cd.

  • Love it!

We've had the CD about a week, it's the only thing we've listened to in the car. My 2 daughters from China especially like the title track.

  • Great for pre-schoolers
    author: Karen

My two pre-schoolers from Russia LOVE this CD. They don't understand all of the songs yet ('Sometimes I wonder' is still beyond their comprehension), but they want to hear 'Mama Always Comes Back' over and over and over...

  • sweet, fun
    author: Annie

I found the songs fun and easy to sing along with after hearing once. My 11 year old adopted from China found it too babyish--but she was listening to the words, at least the first time, and asked a question or two about some of the words and meanings. Bought an extra already to give to a new adoptive parent

  • MUST HAVE for all adoptive parents
    author: Carin

Our daughters love the cd and we had a lot of fun acting out the childs behavior in "mama always comes back". This is a must have for adoptive parents, it's also a perfect and meaningful gift for adoptive parents or adopted children.

This CD is wonderful! Our family loves to listen and sing along to it in the car. Our daughter wants to listen to the song "Same Same" over and over again. I love the song "Sometimes I Wonder"; I cry every time. This is a must have for those with toddlers!

  • Best CD and songs for families touched by adoption.
    author: Linda Leatherman

I cannot say enough wonderful things about these songs by Chuck Kent. They empower children touched by adoption, in a musical way, to know that they have "real" parents, to know they are the same as their family, and they have their own story. It really allows kids to talk about how a family comes together. This CD is not just for kids, I love it also! Can I give it 10 stars?

  • A must for families touched by adoption!
    author: Stacey

I loved this CD! A couple of the songs made me cry: "The Real Deal" and "Sometimes I Wonder." My two-year-old daughter loves to dance to the music while I enjoy the lyrics. I highly recommend it.
