(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

The Chubbies were the pop/punk/power pop darlings of the infamous label, "Sympathy For The Record Industry". Long Gone John's favorite everythings, Jeannette Kantzalis and Christene Kings recorded over 11 releases for Sympathy.

notes

This CD contains 13 of Jeannette's own favorite picks from her 10 years as The Chubbies as well as 9 new acoustic renditions of her best Chubbies songs recorded in her bedroom on that very same 8 track that started it all.

BIO
Jeannette Kantzalis started THE CHUBBIES after being dropped from A&M Records.
She had no money, no prospects, so she went back home to Upland to live with her parents and started all over again.

In that tiny bedroom, The Chubbies were born!

On her 8 track she recorded 10 demos and sent them off to Long Gone John of Sympathy for the Record Industry. After 5 seconds of listening to the tattered cassette, LGJ called Jeannette and asked her what she wanted to do.
"Make a record", she said matter of factly.
"Great, let's do it", said LGJ.
"But I don't have a band, it's just me on those demos".
"That's okay", he said, "I like it just the way it is".

He released I'm The King, her first 7 inch and the CD of the same name soon followed.

11 releases later with SFTRI and countless singles, comps and albums with foreign and domestic indy labels, Jeannette just kept writing and recording.
She enlisted Christene Kings right after I'm The King was released to go on tour and they stayed there for over 6 years.
Together they crossed the U.S. and europe in their bright yellow shortbus.

Jeannette's latest project, A BROKEHEART PRO can also be found here. Check out myspace.com/abrokeheartpro to see what she's been up to since The Chubbies.

I have several of The Chubbies CDs already, but I had to get The Greatest Hits as well. It has acoustic versions!!!!! If you like the originals from the albums, you'll go crazy for the acoustic re-makes. Yes, I had to say that....

Time really flies when you're having fun. An effective reminder is the release of this compilation by The Chubbies, California's Inland Empire all-girl band. Was it THAT long ago that we shimmied and shook to the lighter and more feminine side of punk? On today's dance floor music is ultra-refined by use of the digital arts, so it's wonderful to remember when lo-fidelity and endless energy could propel musicians into tourdom. It's a testament to The Chubbies' determination and their adherence to old-school that they're still turning out new versions of past tunes, proving that not everything has to be glossy and sophisticated in our 2007 hollaback-girl world. Wanna feel young again? Throw this CD into your player and dance about like it's 1999. Go ahead, do it and enjoy yourself. No one's watching. ;-)

Great CD .. Jeannette pulls songs from all her albums in a great retrospective look at her music and career. All the great Chubbies songs are here like - play me-didjahavtosaythat, when I was your girlfriend- to name a few but the bonus here is the acoustic stuff - great remakes of the originals at the acoustic level which actually shows off Jeannettes' voice better than some originals. Great CD great music .. enjoy.
