The latest realease from Chrysalis shows a tremendous amount of growth and musical maturity for such a young band.

The self-titled album also marks the debut of 2nd guitarist Chris Norris and Keyboardist Noel Castillo. The added instrumentation has given the band new musical ground to explore, and the effects have been quite noticable. The songs on "Chrysalis" are more lush, layered, and musically complex than anything else previously realesed by the band.

They 11 song disc also displays a wide variety of musical influences and techiniques. Songs like "Outspoken" and "Aura" display the bands' heavier side, while tracks such as "Serein" and "To Mend" delve more into the goth/symphonic genre.

Overall the album has a fairly original sound that's hard to compare to anyone. If your a fan of rock, metal, progressive, or goth, and you're looking for something a little different, Chrysalis may just be what the doctor ordered.

    This album is amazing-- the way Chrysalis blends sounds and ideas from a huge and diverse array of styles is masterful. Everything from death metal to alternative rock to progressive metal to gothic metal can be found in each and every song, and yet the styles are so skillfully blended that they become one unique genre. This album flows beautifully from one track to the next almost like a river. I can't recommend this enough for anyone who loves a wide variety of music. This album will not disappoint you!

    This band is pretty much the definition of unique. Their mixed vocals and array of different sounds will draw you in from the start. They have such a powerful feel and in-your-face attitude that all metal fans tend to love. With this being their debut album, I'm surprised that their songs sound so developed and presentable. I don't know what it is about them that I love. Perhaps it's the subtle sophistication of their songs, the "forbidden lore" type of ideas that they display. Or maybe it's the way they flow, presenting you with harsh, emotional riffs one moment and then drawing you into surreal, betrayed-by-the-world moments the next. Either way, this CD will keep you listening and coming back for more. Everything about them is unique, from the way they use their instruments to their vocals to their album art. I agree with the other reviewer. There is never a dull moment on this CD.

    It's so great to finally hear an original young metal band! I love this record. It has great energy through-out, and it's combined with all kinds of interesting and unique sounds. There is never a dull moment on this CD! These guys rock and they're definately a band to keep your eye on!
