notes

Paul Tooley was born in 1960 in Fairfield, Washington. His parents were migrant missionary teachers who taught school all over the northwestern United States in small Christian schools. In 1967 they packed up the family and headed for Nigeria in West Africa. Paul spent the larger part of his childhood in Africa returning to the United States with his parents in 1972. The third of four children, Paul began developing an interest in music around the age of 14. His family continued their moves when back in the United States from Oregon to New York, and onto North Dakota where Paul was given a Banjo for his 14th Birthday. He soon was playing old Flatt and Scruggs tunes, but Blue Grass Music alone could not hold his interest. He soon added the Recorder, and Guitar to his musical inventory.

His early musical influences were eclectic from John Denver to Arthur Fiedler And The Boston Pops. He started several bands that played everything from Blue Grass to Rock. His interest continued to develop until he began assembling a small recording studio in his basement. He currently is working on a set of Christian Walker Sound Projects. The first of which is The Christmas Sound Project. Others will include the Hymn Sound Project, and the Folk Sound Project.
