notes
Chrissy Flatt was born in Austin, Tx. The youngest of three girls, she lost her father, who passed away from heart failure at the age of 61, when she was only four years old. His death had a devastating effect on her childhood which has informed her music with a powerful sense of solitude and loss.
After her fathers passing her family moved to the notoriously eccentric bible-belt town of Waco, Tx. Life in Waco as a social misfit turned her inward to a protective shell where music increasingly became her best friend. The music she turned to in those days - childhood folk songs, Buddy Holly, David Bowie, and punk rock records her sisters brought home, beach music and girl groups from the a.m. radio remain important influences today.
Chrissy's family moved to San Antonio after two years in flagstaff, Az. it was at this time that she made her first forays into music under the spell of the legendary San Antonio underground punk scene first trying drums then electric guitar. after acquiring an acoustic guitar and some lessons she began to find her way to the music she writes and plays today.
Her debut CD "Wings of a Butterfly" contains twelve original songs that blend the organic soul of country and folk with the hooks and energy of 60's pop. Recorded at Jumping Dog Studios in Austin, Tx. It features Ron Flynt (20/20, Bluehearts) on bass, Stephen Belans (Beaver Nelson, Kacy Crowley) on drums, Eric Hisaw on guitar with special guests Jud Newcomb on guitar and Brian standefer on cello.

Excellent writing with a touch of Darkness
author: AlvisChrissy’s ability to combine excellent writing with a touch of darkness and blend in seamless harmonies made this a must have for me. Love every minute of it! This album will be cherished in my collection as well as it should in yours. Alvis F&A Nashville, TN
The music within is gutsy...
author: Robert Baird, Magnet MagazineWith a title like Wings of a Butterfly and cover art showing her holding a butterfly in her cupped hands, bleach blonde Texan Chrissy Flatt's self-released debut looks like something for my bad Malibu Stacy dolll collectors. Fortunately the music within is gutsier than the cover image, marking Flatt as a country/rock singer/songwriter worth keeping an eye on --especially if she starts worshipping sewer roaches or other such malevolent insects.
