My name is Chris Marshall and I am a performing artist from Portland, Oregon. I have been writing and performing for a few years now, and it's my pleasure to introduce myself and these songs to you.
I can unapologetically say that I ache for a time that I never lived, but whose values and conventions I am compelled to adopt. Artists such as Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson sound just as fresh to me today as anything presently out there, and it would be impossible for me not to let that fact influence the music I write and perform.
I grew up in an area outside of Portland, the second son of a minister. My love for music has always kept it at the forefront of my pursuits, from playing and singing in church to forming bands and writing songs on my own. At this stage, I’m working hard and hoping to achieve the kind of success that all musicians dream about (at least the kind that would allow me to hire someone else to write my bio!).
This collection of recordings is really a 6-song EP, with three additional songs that were recorded simply with myself and a guitar. I feel good about the results and believe the songs have a way of speaking for themselves. I am glad to have you along and do hope you enjoy what you hear!
