Mission Statement

Chris Carder is a solo acoustic/rock/worship artist hailing from Louisville, KY. He passionately seeks the pleasure of Jesus through leading others in worship experiences and desires to be a part of the revival of the church by expressing Gods mercy and grace.

Bio

Name: Chris Carder

I sing and play acoustic guitars, harmonica

Instrument: 1999 Taylor 714 CE

I usually play through a Boss TU-2 Chromatic Tuner and a SIB Fat Drive pre-amp.

Testimony: Just out of high school, I got involved in a youth group at the First Baptist Church in Smyrna, Georgia. I saw a group of kids there that loved God and really lived it out by loving one another. Their example spoke volumes to me and in the Spring I gave my life to Jesus. I have moved away from the Smyrna area, to Louisville, Kentucky, but still have great memories of those special days while at the same time remembering that the best days lie ahead for those who trust Christ's finished work on the cross. As I peer in the rear view mirror of my life, I can see many key times when God was sowing His Truth in me. I always believed the Christmas Story of the birth of the Savior. I never doubted the truth of a Risen Savior as the Easter story unfolded. But it was not until that February Wednesday night, after seeing a glimpse of Jesus' love through the Smyrna youth, that everything seemed to make sense and I realized I had to make a commitment with all of me publicly and unashamedly, as Jesus did for me.

When I am home: I am surrounded by beautiful women, starting with my wonderful wife, Leslie. We have been married 8 awesome years and been blessed with two girls. Elena is two years old, has a sweet heart although she can be tough as nails. Keely was born on March 27 this year and is the happiest baby I have ever seen or been around. We live in a couple of doors down from Leslies school, Fern Creek High.

Musical Influences: Third Day, Stephen Curtis Chapman, Bill Mallonee and the Vigilantes of Love, John Cougar Mellencamp, Sheryl Crowe, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sting, Michael Jackson, James Taylor, Russ Taff, Johnny Cash, Dan Fogelberg, Eagles, Keith Green, and many more.

Currently Reading: John, 1 Peter, and Proverbs.

Passions: Jesus - The One and Only. There is none who compares to Him. My Family. I love leading worship at Missionary Conferences, whether it is Indonesia, South America, Africa. I will go anywhere God provides to encourage those who are on the front lines. Getting my new songs to the masses.

Putting in my ear: Third Day: Wherever You Are, Switchfoot: Nothing is Sound, Aaron Shust: Anything Worth Saying, Passion: Everything Glorious, The Phil Wing Band: True Light.

Putting in my eyes: Jeopardy, Lost, Treasure Hunters, Andy Griffith (Never....never gets old), The Walton's-yeah, I love the Grandpa and the Dad.

Favorite Movies: Braveheart, It's a Wonderful Life, The Patriot, Gladiator, October Sky.

Movie Quote: Uncle Buck to his 5 year old niece's Vice Principle: Here's a quarter. Go downtown, and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face! Good day to you, madam.

I love the CD "Trust" because the lyrics carry such a great message, and because I know the worship that was in Chris' heart when he wrote and performed each song. I don't know much about music--but I know I like these songs! I also love "Trust" because it's dedicated to the memory of our son, Shane. I like to imagine Shane singing the songs in heaven for the Lord himself. The cover of the album really fits the title song. Great job, Chris!

Trust is one of those rare albums that I want to hear all the way through whenever I put it on. There's not a song on it that I don't love. Good

  • Love Mile of Sunshine Boulevard!

I love the sound of Mile of Sunshine Boulevard - reminds me of the happier side of REM, Vigilantes of Love, and other southern-alt groups with a little jangle in the riffs. I like to roll down all the windows and ride through the groves here in Florida smelling the orange blossoms and feeling the sun, listening to Chris Carder! Love this disc, man!

You know certain pieces of music can almost be life changing. That is the way I feel about "Trust". Even though I am many years younger, Chris Carder has always been able to relate to me in many ways. His music is an extension of God's work and I am very grateful. Even if you are not really into Christian music his songs rock and the lyrics are real and meaningful. Listen to it and you will understand. Great Stuff!

This CD is very much like a great baseball team. The first two tracks get you started quickly. Tracks 3 - 6 are the "meat of the order." Shoebox leads us into the power of this CD. Trust is a great ballad that draws us closer to the Lord. Mile of Sunshine Boulevard is my personal favorite. It's a hard hitting celebration of life now and to come. You Came Along speaks to my heart more than any song in recent memory. I really didn't know love... Tracks 7 - 9 complete a strong lineup. Yes, I know there are 10 tracks. Every team that aspires to win a World Series needs a top flight closer. That's this version of 1000 Tongues. Chris' arrangement brings new life to a timeless message. Top to bottom this CD is a winner.

  • CC's Trust Keeps Me Singing

I love this CD (album, I still like the word), every week or so another song becomes my favorite. "Mile of Sunshine Boulevard" is among my favorite top 10 songs ... besides being a great tune, it says so much about being alive - it's like a soundtrack to our experiences down this road of life. Lately, "1000 Tongues" has been on repeat play - I can listen to this modern version of a classic hymn over and over ... seems I enjoy it more with each listen. IMHO, there's not one bad song on this record (yep, I like the term "record" still too - a recording of songs) from my initial favorite, "Shoebox" to my current worshipful experiences with the retooled Wesley Hymn and Psalm 62 set to music - I am really getting into Chris Carder's Trust. This is a great CD from Chris Carder.
