Chord of Three presents a marriage of female voices virtually unmatched in the Gospel Music Industry. Non-family member, Melissa McCullough, joins sisters Judy Whaley and Brenda Woodson, creating a unique and fresh sound, while maintaining that original old time spirit of good gospel music. Judy and Brenda are descendents of the singing Frost family, well-known throughout the South for their smooth family harmony. Melissa's clear distinctive singing voice is the perfect match for the sisters. Together, they glorify God when their voices are raised. The group lives near Nashville and performs in churches and concert venues.
Chord of Three was awarded the Music City Gospel Showcase Favorite Female Group of the Year in 2003 and 2006. They were also nominated in the Trio of the Year category in the first round ballot for the 2005 and 2006 CCMA awards and in the southern gospel category for the prestigious 2006 Dove Awards. Their songs have appeared on major gospel industry charts, such as U S Gospel News, CCMA Power Source, and Country Gospel Music Guild. The title song from It Was Love charted in the top 20 of the CCMA Power Source in 2006 and Are You Washed In The Blood hit #1 on the CGMG chart.
They sing a variety of Christian music and It Was Love includes southern gospel, traditional, country gospel, and one contemporary selection. Even though the southern gospel genre best suits their style, they enjoy singing and performing other types of Christian music.
