notes
All this "chooch" really wants is to love somebody: his family, his miniature red dachshund, the Mets. It's an upbeat, earnest desire, and it demands an equally upbeat rhythm.
The soundtrack to CHOOCH, a comedy about a lovable screw-up from Queens, features vintage classics that are instantly recognizable, familiar and fun. From John Lee Hooker's "Boom Boom" to Louis Armstrong's "A Kiss to Build a Dream On," the comedy's classic-driven soundtrack captures the film's arms-wide embrace of family, friendship and neighborhood.
"The songs were hand-picked to evoke an innocence, an optimism, a sense of community," says executive producer Steve Loglisci. "They recall a time when the whole block hosted a backyard feast just to send you off on a two-week vacation."
Songs like John Lee Hooker's "Boom Boom" and George Thorogood's "Who Do You Love?" underscore the swagger of the lead characters, while "Motherless Child" by the Harmonizing Four recalls their longing for home.
Blues fans will appreciate the soundtrack's rare version of "Aztec" by Bo Diddley and Little Milton's "Strange Dreams." Italian-lovers will recognize "Stornelli" by Calamita and Gucci, and swing lovers will dig the stylings of crooner Hunter Sullivan who counts among his idols Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
