A gorgeous, imaginative soundworld with a powerful emotional and melancholy undertow - weaving together a beautiful voice, poetic imagery and musicianship influenced by classical, jazz, folk and lush electronica

notes

'Chloë March has a gorgeous voice and a way with writing great songs. 'The Fisherman's House is an evocative tale. The utterly gorgeous melody and March's singing are exceptional'
'Sophisticated songwriting... a trace of David Sylvian's jazz-tinted sound..... March's clear voice and the air of melancholy are just lovely....'Snowdrop' is a thing of beauty and a bright future must beckon for Chloë March.' collectedsounds.com

‘Snowdrop’ is a lyrical, internal and hugely melodic album intense with an atmosphere of yearning and loss. It features Piano tracks such as ‘Lines of Desire’ and more fully-arranged, lush electro-acoustic tracks featuring French Horn ‘Snowdrop’ and Cello ‘Diamond Skin’. It’s been featured on Internet Radio in the States and the U.K . In March 2007 I was a Featured Artist on www.juliansflight.com a high quality site dedicated to melodic and visual music, featuring artists such as Kiku Collins and Marcus Olgers:

I’m currently writing, recording and self-producing a New Album - If you’d like to stay in touch with how it’s going and hear drafts please check out www.myspace.com/chloemarch (see links) where I’ll be advertising the release date. It's going to be an album inspired by water - ice, fountains at twilight, rivers, sea-bells, dryads - are all appearing! 'Written on Water' a beat-driven lament is now playing on myspace if you fancy a listen.... New tracks will be rotated there until the album is released.....

Biography:

I grew up in the middle of the English countryside, where there wasn’t much to do except play the piano, go for long muddy walks and generally become immersed in music, books and theatre (Shakespeare mostly :) - my parents are musicians and both worked for the theatre)

I studied drama at Uni and whilst there wrote lots of theatre music - this background is possibly why my songs have an evocative, 'visual' quality.

2005 saw me playing keyboards and singing backing vocals for 'Cousteau' ('Last Good Day of the Year') on the U.K and Italian tours and for live radio/tv and video - promoting the gorgeous album 'Nova Scotia'.

Influences:

Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Gabriel Yared (soundtracks to 'The Big Blue', 'The English Patient'), David Sylvian, Sting, Dead Can Dance/Lisa Gerrard (soundtracks to 'The Insider', 'Gladiator') Björk, Classical Music (especially Ravel, Vaughan Williams, Benjamin Britten....), Bill Conti (soundtrack to 'The Thomas Crown Affair'), Natacha Atlas, everything but the girl, the petshop boys, Air, Judie Tzuke, early Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd, Keith Jarrett, Steve Reich, My Mum- it's a long list and gets added to all the time....

Choreograhers/Filmakers - If you are interested in using tracks or commissioning please get in touch.

Thanks very much for listening and reading....

  • Does what it says on the tin! Evocative, powerful lyrics, & lush harmonies.

This is lush & evocative & powerful music. Love the harmonies & the range & crystal quality of Chloe's voice. Drums on Snowdrop give it a real drive. Unusual & gorgeous songs!Loads of variety too, so some more spacious with piano or keyboards... Great stuff!
