notes

Welcome to my project, “It’s All About the Drums”. What you have here is a compilation of artists and music for which I have had the pleasure of accompanying over the years with my various percussion instruments.
I have given you different styles of music ranging from Singer-Songwriter, Celtic, Middle Eastern to Rock and Roll. I have also thrown in a fun drum solo.
The last track on this album is a song I wrote and performed. I hope you enjoy that as well.

My story starts in Montreal, Canada where I studied classical percussion as my major at McGill University. With The Lakeshore Concert Band I toured Norway, England and Scotland. I was also the drummer for The Yiddish Theatre of Montreal for ten years with whom I traveled all over Canada, United States, Belgium, France, Switzerland and Russia. During this time, I continued to play rock and roll drums with different bands in town. It was when I moved to New York City in the 1990’s that I found my niche as a percussionist for Singer-Songwriters. While hanging out at NY’s famed Fast Folk Café, I met many including my husband Charles Nolan.
During my time in New York, I met Scott Wilson, son of the late and famous belly dancer, Serena Wilson. I submerged myself in the music of The Middle East and it was during that time I was fortunate to study dumbek with Souren Baronian.

I now live in Philadelphia where I have met more folk musicians and had the pleasure of playing a lot of Celtic music with such groups as So’s Your Mom and more recently the talented Charlie Zahm. Not to mention the ever-popular Full Frontal Folk!
I am currently touring with Pat Wictor a lap-slide player who is making a mark on this scene. I also tour with the legendary Jonathan Edwards and will be performing with my new band called The Strangelings. Stay tuned for more!!
