notes
“The purpose of Gospel Music is to bring forth the Word of God through music, to heal, mend and restore broken lives to their right standing in God.”
-Cheryl James
At a young age, Cheryl James gave her life to the Lord at the West End Church of God of Prophecy. As she grew older, her passion and love for music only intensified. Over the years, Cheryl was involved with a variety of choirs and chorals throughout the city of Toronto. She faithfully participated as a member of the Voices of Praise, Youth Outreach Mass Choir (Y.O.M.C.), and Sharon Riley and the Faith Chorale. Cheryl also served as an alto for the Faith Outreach Choir where she eventually became the director of the outstanding choir. However in 2001, Cheryl began to feel the Lord urging and pulling her into unfamiliar territory and eventually she had to step out in faith and follow the Lord’s leading.
The actual manifestation of her vision began in 2002 when the evolution of the “Voices of Worship” (also known as VOW) took place. Since then, this power packed group of approximately 15 dynamic and energized young people (based in Toronto Canada) have ministered, blessed and astonished congregations both within Canada and the United States. Some exciting ministerial moments have occurred when the choir was given the opportunity to share the stage with Ricky Dillard and New G, Youthful Praise, Take 6, Monique Walker, Fred Hammond, Timothy Wright, Tudar Bismark, Grace Thrillers, Stitchie, Papa San, and Kurt Carr and the Kurt Carr Singers.
