notes

Somewhere between Charm City and the Nation's Capital, where the musical crossroads of rock, folk, funk, jazz and blues collide, you will find a rising new talent, Cerulean Groove. This three-piece band brings a new twist to the "power trio" with catchy song writing, passionate execution, and infectious energy.

"...Plenty of power and soul" - Mike Joyce of The Washington Post

The trio is fronted by Laura Cerulli who in addition to being the bands primary songwriter is also the lead vocalist and percussionist. Cerulli is backed by an ever changing cast of musicians which currently includes bassist Franco Luong, and guitarist/vocalist Gregory Lygon.

"Watching the band, you know immediately you're in the presence of something exciting and new. Then Cerulli opens her mouth and the world stands still as she wrings every drop of emotion out of the lyrics with her powerful, soaring voice, forged in the fire of the blues and tempered in the cool technique of her classical training." - Bob Steele of Baltimore Out Loud

In January 2003 the band was honored with a nomination for a WAMMIE (Washington Area Music Award) as the Best Contemporary Folk Duo/Trio.

"Cerulean Groove, a name that evokes the sunny blue of a clear sky, creates a powerful hybrid of rock, folk and jazz driven by Cerulli's personal lyrics and strong,
emotional vocals."-Marianne Meyer of The Washington Post

Cerulean Groove has sold over 1000 copies of their self-released 2001 debut EP "The Cue-Stick Sessions" and have recently released a new full length album "Over Crooked Tables" (© 2004 Laura Cerulli).

"'Over Crooked Tables' has a lot of virtues, including Cerulli's first wistful, then passionate voice and novel arrangements centering on drums, bass and guitar."-Mike Joyce of The Washington Post

The band is developing a strong following in the Maryland, D.C. and Northern Virginia areas by playing a wide variety of venues.

This is an amazing album. I saw Laura Cerulli live with disappear fear (also highly recommended) and was delighted to discover that she also had her own album. Great songs beautifully done!
