Los Cenzontles

"... a wonderful gem of ballads and rancheras... the album is filled with heartfelt musicianship."
Sing Out Magazine

"Los Cenzontles, like the mockingbird that sings in endless tones, explores and interprets the great gamut of traditional Mexican music, but with and their own originality." Pepe Marquez, Vista USA Magazine

MEDIA VIDA by Los Cenzontles (the Mockingbirds) is an innovative and heartfelt collection of Mexican traditional, popular and original songs. MEDIA VIDA achieves a soulful blend of regional Mexican roots music with contemporary and creative interpretations while maintaining vitality and authenticity. Styles include rancheras (hearty songs from the Mexican countryside), pirecuas (lilting Indian love songs of Michoacan), sones jarochos (dance songs of Veracruz), mariachi and more. With MEDIA VIDA Los Cenzontles continue their remarkable journey in taking those traditions several steps further.

MEDIA VIDA was produced by Grammy nominated producer Eugene Rodriguez (Papa's Dream with Los Lobos) and features arrangements by Los Cenzontles and acclaimed arranger Tregar Otton (Danzon Orquesta la Moderna Tradicion). In addition to Rodriguez (guitars) and Otton (violin, palmas) performers include Hugo Arroyo (jarana, guitarron, vihuela, tololoche, voice); Lucina Rodriguez (voice, zapateado); Fabiola Trujillo (voice); Don Gardner (sax, clarinet) and guests Miguel Govea (trumpet), Pepe Jacobo (drums) and Jorge Pomar (electric bass).
