  • Style and Spirit with Traditional and Modern Influences
author: Patty Fong, Host of Musica de la Raza - Aztlan to El Barrio www.

Los Cenzontles just seem to get better and better with each release. This CD draws on the influences of traditional Mexican music such as son jarocho (music of Veracruz) and the wildly popular cumbia rhythm as well as contemporary, popular styles of music such as reggae, C&W, ballads, and rock'n'roll. They accomplish these fusions of music with great style, maturity and skill. I hope more releases such as this are ahead in Los Cenzontles' future. A terrific addition to your collection of the music of Mexico and Mexican-American music!

Exquisitely played music that defies classification. Songs written and performed by young people who have performed together for years. Very highly recommended.

What a surprise to find this little jewel. I had never heard of this group before, but they are doing something original. Great musicianship, arrangements. The CD even features David Hidalgo on a few tracks. Check it out!

  • A MUST have!

The music, lyrics and instrumentation is creative and heartfelt. The latest effort from Los Cenzontles showcases their natural talent outside of singing and playing instruments - all the music and production was done by them. WOW.
