"CEDAR HILLS "Poverty Row" is a project of new material and new musicians, yet created in the template of tradition! They mix the new with the old in a way that transforms CEDAR HILL into a new generation. With new faces equating into new exciting sounds. Frank Ray is the bandleader and founding member. He penned the large majority of the songs. One of country music's most awarded artists Vince Gill was so impressed with Frank's writing and the group's sound, he lent his voice to a duet with the band's lead singer & fiddler, Lisa Ray. Lisa's voice is sweet yet sincere. She sings the perfect interpretation of the lyrics purposely penned for "Poverty Row". Lisa shares the vocal leads with new member Rob Collins. Rob sings the Red Allen bluegrass standard, "Love Gone Cold", along with his solid bass duties. He is from Kansas City, Missouri, and a long time friend of all the members of CEDAR HILL. Another new face, and fellow Missourian is Joey Wieneman. Joey adds his own incredible guitar style to "Poverty Row", with great taste and tone. He also shares in the harmonies with Frank & Rob. Crisp banjo styles from Oklahoma native, Kenny Cantrell and the tasteful haunting tones of Missouri's resophonic guitar star, Ferrell Stowe, have been the group's staple sound since inception. Other titles were contributed by Dixie & Tom T. Hall, and include the title song "Poverty Row". Miss Dixie & Tom T. have won multiple song writing awards, for their unique approach to lyrics and melodies. This project is no exception of their uniqueness, and their contributions again exceptional. They continue with award winning recipes for great songs. Miss Dixie has als been known to cook some of her homegrown recipes, during the recording sessions, too. This project is rpoof you can turn poverty into perfection!" -----Rhonda Vincent

Poverty Row
author: STEVE FAYNEI bought this album for the fiddle tune "Whiskers in the sink",I am a fiddle player, but I was equally thrilled with the rest of the CD. it has a wonderful combination of the traditional and modern sounds that are and should be part of the natural evolution of the genre. Keep up the good work!

Loved it!
author: Jenny PowellI ordered this CD because one of the songwriters of "Broken Angels" is a fellow family physician, working for the same health care system as do I. I will listen to this CD often . . . and love it every time!
Excellent CD From Cedar Hill
author: Michael E FitzgeraldWow is what I can say for starters! Lots of good songs on this CD. A really good balance of lead singing with Lisa Ray on about half the songs and Rob Collins on the others. Lisa's voice makes your ears ring...in a good way. Amazing! Rob also does well with his voice being a more traditional country style. "Wasting My Time" is a fun song, made me laugh, on the air even. The title song is really good traditional bluegrass as well. In fact, the whole CD is quite sound from top to bottom. You're not wasting your time (or money) getting this one. It's bluegrasseriffic!! Fitz
