About the Album:
Cedar Hill, mainstays in the southeastern bluegrass scene for 29 years, has become accustomed to poverty. Foolishly wasting their lives in a form of music that has so many rules, Cedar Hill breaks most of them on this album. If you need an official list of "Bluegrass Rules" we will be happy to send you one. But, trust me, Cedar Hill ignores the rules while at the same time vigorously enforcing them.

About The Band:
Cedar Hill is an Atlanta band. Why Atlanta? Why not New York, L.A., or Nashville? Here's why: They are without question the SEVENTH BEST bluegrass band in the country. However, it is a little known fact that a heinous conspiracy dictates that there are can only be SIX full-time, national-touring bluegrass bands in America. Undaunted by this repression, Cedar Hill has squandered (devoted) their talents building a dedicated following (OK, so the following consists of one guy named Bob Perl) and has rightfully earned a reputation as Atlanta's MOST ENTERTAINING bluegrass band.
Bluegrass Unlimited magazine called Cedar Hill "the fun bunch of the genre" (a true statement) while not mentioning the specific amount of any bribes they may have received. Luckily for the shameless reviewer, none of Cedar Hill's members knew what a "genre" was and bloodshed was averted. (a lie)
Performing since 1976, Cedar Hill has the remarkable track record of NEVER being rained on at a outdoor, paying gig. (true) They did endure a heavy snowfall once (true), but to the promoters delight, they completed the show obviously driven by the profit motive and partial paralysis due to the cold. For this reason, Cedar Hill is often booked strictly as a good luck weather charm (a lie), especially during the summer thunderstorm season.
Cedar Hill has fIve members. Jim "Duck" Adkins plays his Gibson Mastertone banjo in a style reminiscent of Bela Fleck's imitation of Uncle Dave Macon (true). Jim's favorite number is 1099. (a lie)
Nobody says anything bad about guitarist "Wild Bob" MacIsaac and the sounds he squeezes from his '51 Martin D-28. (Nobody who lived to tell about it anyway.)
Brother Fred MacIsaac brings new meaning to the term doghouse bass with his 60 year old Kay. After mastering the "slap" he has progressed and expanded his style to include the "plunk" and the "thump". (a lie... he also had the "boomp" and the "slap")
"Ranger" Brad Laird, while always keeping a photo of Bill in his case (true) has recently made forays into experimental slide mandolin playing and claims to own Duane's Coricidin bottle, though he has only been seen with a Craftsman deep well socket. His '85 Flatiron F-5 Artist mandolin has steadily increased in value and now has its own listing on NASDAQ. (a lie)
"Diamond Dave" Ellis does double duty as fiddle Dobro player. David is the youngest member of the group. (true) So far, he has shaved twice and cut both legs. (a lie... he cut only one leg.) All of the members sing and produce blended harmonies characteristic of the great bluegrass music, barbershop, gospel quartets, and other styles of music they incorporate into their sound.
Now, have we conviced you to order the CD? I hope so because we have voted to carpet the bathroom with the profits and if we sell at least 500 we are going to run it all the way up to the house! (true)

Wonderful variety, lots of fun and good listening.
author: Andy GoncziA wonderful range of music for good listening and good fun. The grandkids can't get enough of I'm My Own Grandpa and Duckwave. Nice instrumentals too.
very good renditions of some "general" favorites
author: Walter SheltonThe band is still as good as when we had them do a couple of nights on the beach at Pine Isle 20 yr. ago for a Coca-Cola function. Still enjoy their fine arrangements and good selections. This CD gives a broad range of their talents.
