Sultry crooner Cynthia Basinet makes excellent use of her impressive pipes on these lush, languid, and oh so lovely numbers... no matter how you choose to listen they're a gorgeous treat. -download.com

"Now, we have Harry Connick Jr. and Cynthia Basinet, two of my favourites of new-age Jazz musicians. Music with a laid-back style, yet lilthe and precise with their expressions, my favourite." -jazz for anytime of the day, anywhere

"Had vocalist, Cynthia Basinet been born seventy-eighty years ago, she might as well have been a household name. Well, the Jazz Age has come and gone, but Basinet has such a mesmerizing voice and such an alluring way with a love song that it's all but inconceivable her name won't be recognized in a fair mount of households before she's through." -Dave Reitzes of mPlode.com

"Very talented vocalist making the transition from gauzy but tough Dream Pop to sophisticated, satin-draped jazz singing. The Fiona Apple-meets-Galaxie 500 rock material (featured on CD- "BLUED") also shows off Basinet's very real vocal gifts, but radio stations are picking up on her supper club take on standards. She retains Julie London's sexy aloofness, but truth be told, this young talent has a stronger set of pipes than the famed, whispering torch singer. "Haunted Heart" - a remake from the movie, "The Two Jakes" is a rarely performed standard but Basinet navigates its difficult changes easily. Her sassy "Santa Baby" would have had Dean Martin cocking his eyebrows, and her lovely reading of "Someone To Watch Over Me" cuts deep into the emotional core of the song. ...As it stands she could knock Michelle Pfeiffer off the top of the piano." -listen.com (now Rhapsody)

The bio blurb (from IMDB.com)-

Blessed with striking natural beauty, sparkling versatility as an entertainer and flawless golden talent, Cynthia "C" Basinet was born in Van Nuys, California. A resilient star, today Basinet shines as a rare inspirational gem of entertainment, combining her experience as an actor, performer, a sought after American fashion model in Europe during the rise of the supermodel, as well as being recognized as a remarkable humanitarian.

With crowning distinctions as a classically trained musician (she learnt the saxophone and flute as a child), Cynthia is one of the best jazz singers in the world today and is capable of conjuring up Hollywood's golden era of glamour from American history with her critically acclaimed performances and sultry jazz recordings. Her exquisite, speak-easy singing style smoldering with elegant mastery has ensconced Basinet as a cultural living treasure of the American jazz canon.

However in her twenties the world of fashion called and Basinet began a successful modeling career in San Francisco that led her to be based in Paris modeling for five years. Here she studied French cinematography and learnt French fluently while being shot by some of the world's leading photographers for Europe's elite fashionistas in Paris, London and Milan.

Her sparkling wit, brains and beauty not only captured the fashion world's camera lens, but also the eyes of some of Hollywood's leading men including Jack Nicholson whom Basinet was partnered with for several years. The beautiful, leggy, comedic redhead eventually returned to Los Angeles where she appeared in music videos for the likes of Roy Orbison and the Babys. In LA, the talented Basinet transitioned into acting appearing in movies, TV shows and national commercials.

As a star, she has also been referenced to date in over fifteen books.

An astute businesswoman, Cynthia has always recognized and embraced the liberating power of new technologies to reach new audiences in entertainment.

As a recording artist, Basinet established an entirely new channel of distribution for her music, using the Internet to bypass the usual Hollywood and recording industry path to bring her releases directly to listeners around the World. The innovatively strategic move in music distribution, garnered Cynthia Basinet worldwide radio play and millions of downloads where she created an entertainment phenomenon with her rendition of "Santa Baby" (also in the film, "Party Monster"). Ironically, the global radio airplay of Basinet's sultry rendition of the song was accredited to screen legend, Marilyn Monroe, who never recorded the song. Cynthia Basinet's "Santa Baby" remains an essential and iconic Christmas jazz classic each year.

As a multi-tasking single parent (of a son, Jon), Basinet's awareness of social issues that affect people, families and individuals universally, led her to use her music and increasing platform to raise awareness for multitudes of others in the world, including a trip in May/June of '01 to refugee camps in the Western Sahara. Here she used her profile and her gift of music to raise awareness and inspire hope for those in need.

As an outstanding icon of humanitarianism, Basinet appeared in the book, "1000 PeaceWomen Across The Globe," after being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize Award in '05.

In 2006, Basinet released her first full length CD, "The Collection". As diverse as she is.

In 2007, Basinet has released a 10th Anniversary version of her classic, "Santa Baby" and an exquisite new album called, "Uncovered" featuring new tracks of some of America's greatest standards. It is Basinet at her classy and sultry best. Cynthia Basinet continues acting, recording, performing and inspiring others worldwide with her beauty, sparkling array of talents and her golden voice while residing in Los Angeles, CA.

*****I Love It
Reviewer: Daniel Wahl from Charlotte, NC

There's something about music that can change your entire mood. A certain song can make you ecstatic, another can make you sad or depressed. Don't count on this small collection of tunes to invoke either of the above emotions in you however.

The smooth, seductive voice of C. Basinet will undoubtedly put you in a romantic mood--a mood where you feel how wonderful it is to fall in love and what a beautiful world it is where such romance can not only be sought after but achieved. The tracks, each and every one (but especially "Santa Baby" and a personal favorite "Tea for Two"), include soft, melodious tunes serving as the perfect complement to what I believe is a perfect voice.

All in all, this is the type of music for anyone who likes the prospect of falling in love, or the feeling of being in love, with a wonderful person. It is great music, for great people, wherever and whenever they meet.

The few samples I just listened to gave me goose bumps - your voice is soul stirring and commands attention. Once appropriate focus is achieved, the synapse of pleasure triggers begin to fly and you just can't stop the smile.

Am stunned and temporarily passed out. After listening to Linda Rhonstadt, Diana Krall and Diane Schurr, your voice reminds me of Dinah Shore, only 10 times more sultry... You're perfect.

  • Lovely Voice
    author: jimboyjollygood

As a 76-year-old, not usually attracted to the modern 'Pop' scene, I was very pleasantly surprised to hear Cynthia's dulcet tones coming over without what I would have expected to have been an accompaniment of loud, electronically nasal guitars, blaring brass and thundering drums - how I usually sum up modern day musical entertainment! Don't take that lovely voice very far away, Cynthia. Or the super arrangements...

  • Santa Baby with a Wink ...
    author: Paul L. W.

Cynthia Basinet’s version of “Santa Baby” is one of my all-time Christmas favorites. She delivers its message with a wink, letting you know she isn’t seriously materialistic. Her voice literally dances through the melody, instead of being hard driven, as in some versions I’ve heard. In place of “give me something,” the tone reads “let’s have fun. It’s Christmas!” I could go on, but this isn’t supposed to be psychoanalysis. We simply need more singers like Cynthia, and more songs like “Santa Baby.” Paul L. W. Mesquite, TX

  • Your great version of SANTA BABY as her favorite Christmas Tune!
    author: William & Kathryn Silver

My wife has just adopted your great version of SANTA BABY as her favorite Christmas Tune! I purchased a download of your 4 song disc and gave it to her for our 8th year anniversary. Searching the web, I was glad to find your site and see who was behind the great voice. You are to be commended for your stance with the refugees in the Sahara, as well as your other social activism... You are truly a woman of grace, talent, beauty and consciousness.

  • "Her Looks and Voice appeals to an audience..."
    author: eric

"Her Looks and Voice appeals to an audience... who have been searching for a real lady in the mold of 60's-70 icons such as Ann-Margret, Raquel Welch, Jayne Mansfield and Marilyn Monroe, the traits that she possesses are so lacking into today's pop-tarts such as Brittany Spears, The Simpson Sisters and Christine Aquelia thus shutting out a whole generation of music and movie lovers."

  • Sublimely intelligent, sexy, sophisticated jazz album

This album by Basinet is uniquely delivered in the flavor of the past, great arrangements, tasteful use of instruments and simply delicious!

I just received your CD and it is truly wonderful. I am deeply grateful for the great joy your beautiful music has brought to my life.

  • Am reminded of a perfect tiramisu.
    author: Randy

Okay, 1-I am one of the clueless that thought I was listening to Monroe the first time I heard your rendition of "Santa Baby" - sorry (although it is probably not the most unflattering of comparisons). 2-WOW! At the risk of sounding as cliche as whomever else might try to describe listening to you sing, it really is soooo smooth and sultry - creamy and passionate even. Food has probably not been used very often as a comparative example, but I am reminded of a perfect tiramisu - creamy, rich, luscious, and sinfully decadent, with a hint of alcohol that makes the whole process even more satisfying to one's senses. I am enchanted and hope to remain so. Thank you.

  • Great CD, sensuous and sultry!

I searched all over for a rendition of Santa Baby that I liked more than Eartha Kitt's version. This CD has it. You will love it.

  • Smooth as silk
    author: Joey

This Hottie is smooth with renditions that the greatest of classic stars would envy!!! On the classics, she doesn't sing it in tribute to the original singer, she takes the song and makes it hers. She sings so smooth, makes you want to touch her!!!

  • Best Rendition of Santa Baby.......move over Madonna !
author: Northern Dancer ( Canadian Fan )

All the songs on For you with love are simply amazing. (how's that for an oxymoron) One of my all time favorite tunes is Santa Baby, and well Ms.Basinet's version is the closest to Ms.Kitt's (gives you that good feeling inside) Her sultry, lounge vocals, brings images of a grand room with palm trees, cigarette smoke and a smart cocktail. (shaken not stirred). She certainly will stir a few hearts with her talent.
