Cat Lee & Co are an amazing quartet from Helsinki who mix up different music styles and create their own sound with such great ambition. We name our style "Jamgrass" as is sounds so convenient to us.
Cat lee & Co as a band, doesn't follow idols or role models, but musicians who we keep deeply in our hearts are: Django Reinhardt, Sol Hoopii, Patsy Cline, Hurriganes, Bessie Smith, Hank Williams, Jimi Hendrix. These people carry/carried the same intensity that we have and believe in....and well, to be honest, they are all....just Fantastic!
The Band:
Stefanos Hirvonen:
the absolute ideal of his life is in mixing together, Hawaiian hula and the gypsy swing style, along with the Fenno-Ugrian bluegrass-traditions. Earlier in his musical career he has played his divine Martin-guitar with Krazy Kats trio. He has played electric guitar with the bands: Blues Affection, Steady Rollin´& Ice Cream-groups; and also he has played baroque guitar with the Battalia Ensemble.
Honey Aaltonen:
has played earlier on in his musical career, the snare drum (with brushes) with Krazy Kats trio. However in Finland he's known best for swinging shuffle-playing with his drum-battery(set), with the bands Tortilla Flat and Teendreams. He has also played the washboard with the groups U-Bauyo and Downhome Boys. He's also a well-known accomplished writer, with his reviews published in Blues News and Rytmi-(Rhythm) Magazines and of course not forgetting his amazing, compelling Hurriganes biography.
Miss Cat Lee:
started her career as a singer at the age of six-year old: Every child from the 80´s in Finland has surely heard her unforgettable singing on “Pukemislaulu” (in English “putting your clothes on/getting dressed). Later on in her career she has been performing backing vocals to many bands and recordings. Her most popular and recognised band in Finland was the band Mascara, along with Sakke Wallenius. Miss Cat Lee sings jazz, blues, rock´n´roll, Irish folk and gospel music, all these influences are without doubt easily found within her music. She also plays tin whistle and flute, perhaps being the first lady in bluegrass history with these instruments. Miss Cat Lee has also gratuated from Helsinki PopJazz-concervatory in 2007.
Timo Tuppurainen:
has produced low frequencies from his noble double bass with dozens of Finnish top Jazz, and progressive groups, including the Lenni-Kalle Taipale trio, U-Street All Stars, Erja Lyytinen Band, Pipoka, Hemma Beast and Tekijä Tuntematon. He is an accomplished top musician with the electric bass-guitar. However, the history of music will always remember him as the first bass player in the world who played courageously ”four beats in a bar” – within the bluegrass world.

author: Tapani RäikkönenI'm really amazed how versatile vocalist Miss Cat Lee is. I liked much e.g. of her rendition of "Annabell Lee". So fresh and brisk. If someone has the demo of this band, knows also how beatifully she sings "The New Irish Girl" (made known to the public by Clara Sanabras). Totally different kind of music! I'm really waiting the international breakthrough of this wonderful artist who can sing almost every kind of music in a staggering way. Managers, keep in eye this female artist! Of the CD... The photo in front of the CD case is so beatiful that it could be in the cover of any fashion magazines! Listening the CD... I was missing the feeling what was on demo. There can be a huge difference between the recording and live gig. The band was not so superior as usually, not reaching the level where they belongs. But the freshness of the singer rescues everything. She's really amazing! Recording.. not sure but sounds like there is too much treble and tone is too thin. But it might be only my opinion. Anyhow, really enjoyable CD which is a must to everyone who likes bluez :)

The distributor was vigilant in finding out if it arrived before I could even mentioned it to them and then when it appeared that it didn’t, they offered to send another one at no cost if the package failed to arrive by a certain date. The envelope contained both ‘to:’ and ‘from:’ addresses. Handling: Product arrived in an insulated plain white envelope with no likelihood that the product could be damaged or removed from its container accidentally. When the product was shipped, CD Baby sent notice of its departure. Their unique method of terminology was a delightful twist to the same old routine letters that you get from other companies. Casing: Above average, high quality plastic CD case. Cover / Insert: The cover contained high quality colored photos. The insert also contained photos of the band members as background to the text. The insert conveniently offered the words to the songs, which is very thoughtful to the purchasers. There is a full scale photo of the band at the center of the insert. Compact Disc - Physical Features: The CD is brightly decorated with Cat Lee’s stunning orange hair. All other markings were the ‘band name,‘ ’album title’ and ‘relevant industry logos and copyright notification.’ Music / Songs: The music genre leans heavily on the classic country style of various types. It has strong usages of blue grass, country swing and even a touch of tropic lounge. highly skilled instrument performances and a nice touch of backup vocal assistance. For those who are burned out with the everyday repeats of contemporary country music, Cat Lee & Co. offers a drastic switch to the roots of this music form. There is a good amount of two stepping songs that should find their place in dance halls with ease. The unique feature of this band is that they don‘t have much technology assisting them. It is raw talent through-and-through. Many bands today are dependent on electronics to ‘make up the difference’ with their singing, instruments and background sounds, but with Cat Lee & Co. you get more talent and less tricks. Conclusions: Cat Lee & Co. delivers a quality product in all areas associated with the music industry. From production, distribution and the quality of their performance, there is nothing anyone could complain about. Wonderful musical talent, competitive price, wonderful distribution treatment. It’s all there to make the most skeptical customer want to have more of what Cat Lee & Co. has to offer. Cat Lee & Co. is one of the best standard setters for product quality and value and they should be constantly recognized for these achievements.
